The proposed design of the "DELTA LOOP" is simple. It takes a little material to make it. It has a small windage. The antenna can be mounted in parts at the working height. The advantages include its multi-range (you can use any combination of ranges from 7 to 28 MHz). Moreover, it is possible to place frames for each range at an optimal distance from each other - 0,2 lambda.

The design of the antenna is shown schematically in the figure. To simplify it, the frames of the lowest frequency range are shown on it. Frames for other ranges are located inside. Both elements - the active element and the reflector - have the same dimensions. To adjust the reflector to resonance, extension cables are used. All dimensions of the antenna required for its repetition are given in the table.

Table 1
Range, MHz Frame side, cm Train length, cm Distance between frames, cm Frame height, cm Strut length E from mast, cm
7 1450 100 869 1240 844
10 1011 70 607 864 589
14 724 60 434 619 422
18 564 50 338 482 329
21 483 45 289 412 282
24 410 40 246 350 239
28 359 40 215 308 210

The antenna is assembled in the following sequence

First, on the traverse B, you need to fix (through insulators) frames to the lowest frequency range, and also place insulators for active elements and reflectors on the remaining planned ranges and thread nylon cords into them. On the mast (reducer) A, a rack B with a traverse C and a cross D is installed. If necessary, stretch marks D are tied to the rack B, the ends of which hang freely.

On spacers E in pre-marked places, the corners of the frames of the remaining ranges are fixed alternately through insulators. At the ends of the struts E, stretch marks Zh with a "floating" insulator and I are tied. The length of the stretch marks Zh should be greater than the distance between the frames (see table) of the lowest frequency range. Stretch marks 3 are tied to the ends of the struts E. The struts E themselves are inserted in turn into the crosspiece G and fixed. Cross G in the desired position is fixed with locking screws.

Multi-range dual-element DELTA LOOP

Using extensions 3 and I, they pull the extreme frames and fix the spacers E. The remaining frames are pulled with nylon cords threaded into the insulators of the traverse B. If there are stretch marks D, they are tied to spacers E as far as possible from the mast.

For spacers E, you can use bamboo, wooden slats, duralumin pipes, divided into two or three sections by insulators. Stretch marks Zh and 3 are made of steel, galvanized pieces of wire 50 ... 80 cm long with a diameter of 1,5...2 mm, interconnected by insulators. The latter can be made of fiberglass with a thickness of 4 ... 8 mm. Steel wire with a diameter of at least 2,5 mm is used as guy wires, since they bear the main load in strong winds.

The active vibrator is fed from the corner, with the central core of the 75-ohm coaxial cable connected to the vertical part of the frame, and the screen to the horizontal. This ensures the efficiency of the antenna at a low height of its suspension. The reflector is adjusted at the working height using a simple field strength indicator. In this case, it is necessary to achieve maximum radiation "forward".

In conclusion, it should be noted that the gain of the described antenna is comparable to the gain of the "double square" - 6 ... 8 dB, but its total efficiency is higher. By the way, I mention this in many amateur radio handbooks, for example, in the "ARRL Handbook".

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Nvidia Tegra X1 Mobile Superchip 11.01.2015

Nvidia has unveiled a new Tegra X2015 mobile processor at CES 1, which is being held these days in Las Vegas.

Tegra X1 is based on the Maxwell architecture used in Nvidia's most powerful desktop GPUs. The chip contains 8 central cores and 256 graphics cores based on 20nm technology. It supports 64-bit data. Nvidia called the new chip "the most advanced mobile processor ever built by Nvidia."

It has a computing power of 1 teraflops. About 15 years ago, a supercomputer with the same power would have been the size of a small cottage and consumed 0,5 MW of power. For comparison, Tegra X1 consumes 15 watts, the company said.

Speaking at the launch, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said the Tegra X1 is designed for next-generation autonomous driving and infotainment systems. As part of the presentation, the head of Nvidia presented prototypes of two computers based on Tegra X1 - Drive СX and Drive PX.

Drive CX is designed for infotainment systems and digital instrument clusters with 3D graphics support. It is able to provide 10 times higher performance compared to modern solutions.

The second computer provides the so-called "surround vision" (360 degrees) thanks to the ability to connect up to 12 high-resolution cameras installed on different sides of the car.

The head of Nvidia showed a video in which the driver leaves the car and instructs him to park. Using the power of Drive PX's two Tegra X1 processors and cameras, the vehicle found a free parking space on its own and occupied it. Then, when the driver called the car, it returned to its original location. Similar technologies are already in development at various automakers, including Sweden's Volvo Car.

During the speech, Jen-Sen Juan stated that he believes future cars will have the most processing power of any consumer product. "The cars of the future will be the smartest computers in the world. There will be more computing power in one car than anything you can have today," he said.
