The amplifier has the following main technical characteristics:

Rated output power ...... 75 W
Harmonic distortion .......... 0,06%
Operating frequency band .......... 20 ... 40 Hz
Signal-to-noise ratio .......... 86 dB
Supply voltage ........... ±40 V
Quiescent current .............. 20 mA

The improvement in quality indicators in this amplifier compared to the previous one was achieved by a number of circuit solutions. A field-effect transistor current source is included in the emitter circuit of the input differential stage. This makes it possible to increase the transmission coefficient of the first stage and improve its thermal stability. To improve the symmetry of the arms of the output stage of the amplifier and reduce non-linear distortion, a corrective circuit is introduced into the emitter circuit of one of the transistors of the final stage, consisting of a diode, resistor and capacitor.

Schematic diagram of the amplifier is shown in fig. 1. It contains a differential input stage (VT2, VT4), current amplifiers (VT3) and voltage amplifiers {VT6), an output stage (VT9-VT12) and an overload protection device (VT7, VT8). As already mentioned, the current source on the transistor VT1, included in the emitter circuits of transistors VT2, VT4, allows, without increasing temperature instability, to increase the voltage transfer coefficient of the differential stage. Transistor VT3 allows you to reduce the load on the output of the differential stage. The load-shared cascade on the VT6 transistor amplifies the voltage signal, providing the maximum output voltage swing.

The quasi-complementary output stage, made on composite transistors (VT9, VT11 and VT10, VT12), is well matched with a low-resistance load. The corrective circuit, consisting of parallel-connected diode VD2, resistor R28 and capacitor C10, improves the symmetry of the arms of the amplifier, thereby reducing non-linear distortion. The initial bias at the bases of the output transistors for operation in AB mode is determined by the voltage drop in the collector-emitter section of the transistor VT5 and is regulated by resistor R16. Transistors VT7 and VT8 shunt the emitter junction of the output transistors during overload, thereby protecting them. Elements C3, R5, C4, R31, C12 prevent self-excitation of the amplifier at high frequencies. Circuit R7, Sat serves to equalize the frequency response of the amplifier at high frequencies in the audio range (up to 20 kHz).

Structurally, the amplifier is assembled on a printed circuit board. Temperature stabilization of the quiescent current of the output transistors is carried out using the transistor VT5, installed on a common radiator with VT12 or VT11; in close proximity to them. To power the amplifier, a bipolar source is required that provides a current of at least 40 A at a voltage of ± 2,5 V.

Establishing an amplifier assembled from serviceable elements consists in checking the correct installation and setting the quiescent current of the output transistors with resistor R16 within 20 ... 40 mA.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Textbooks should be hard to read 10.03.2011

It is generally believed that for a better understanding of the text being read, it should be large and clear. An experiment conducted at Princeton University (USA) casts doubt on this.

The participants in the experiment (28 people aged 18 to 40) were divided into two groups and given the same text to read, in one case printed in large black print, and in the other in small gray. Then, after a 15-minute rest, when the participants of the experiment were distracted by other tasks, they were asked to answer questions on the text.

It turned out that those who found it more difficult to read gave 86,5% correct answers, while those who read a clear text - only 72,8%.

The experiment was repeated in high school classes in chemistry, physics, English and history - with the same results. It turns out that it is better to print textbooks on gray paper in small, hard-to-read fonts.
