to prepare lead-glycerin mass 5 volume parts of thick glycerin are mixed with 2 volume parts of water with low heating. The mixture is cooled and for every 120 cm3 of liquid obtained, 100 g of washed lead litharge is added. Both substances are mixed in a glass bowl until a pasty mass is obtained.

If working with small quantities, then the mass is kneaded like bread dough until it becomes viscous. When working with large quantities, the mass is passed between smooth rollers and the pressed strips are compressed into ingots, which are again passed between the rollers. In this case, the mass gradually hardens, and its volume increases all the time. When the mass passed between the rollers acquires the properties of glass putty, it is strongly pressed into molds in which it hardens after 2 days.

The mass taken out of the mold has a color from pale yellow to slightly yellow, depending on the quality of the litharge used.

The mass can be given any color by dissolving aniline dye in the used glycerin. In order for not a single particle of paint to remain insoluble, they grind the paint into powder, pour the resulting

powder into a paper filter and diluted glycerin is passed through it until all the paint is dissolved and a clear solution passes through the filter. Lead-glycerin masses are used for the manufacture of door handles, knobs, etc. In addition, these masses are used as a foundation for machines and engines.

Xigmatek Xi-3 HDT Thermal Grease 06.03.2013
