Here are the recipes compositions for giving shine to linen.

Brilliant starch, tablets

  • Stearin 400 g;
  • Paraffin 400 g;
  • White wax 200 g;
  • Boers 100

Dissolve stearin, paraffin and wax in a water bath or low heat and, removing from heat, add gradually borax, while stirring well. Then the mixture is poured into a low vessel so that a layer of 2-3 cm is formed. When the mixture hardens and becomes completely cold, it is cut with a fifty-kopeck zinc stamp.

Powdered starch

  • Stearin 100 g;
  • Alcohol 95° 100 g;
  • Wheat starch 2,5 kg.

Stearin is melted, alcohol and starch are added, then stirred until a homogeneous powder is obtained.

Bosk for linen

  • White wax 1 kg;
  • Stearin 100 g;
  • Starch 600 g;
  • Spermaceti 100 g;
  • Borax 750 g;
  • Ultramarine 4 y.

Melt, mix all parts and cast into molds.

Liquid detergent for laundry

  • Spermaceti 450 g;
  • Borax 450 g;
  • Glycerin 120 g;
  • Gum arabic 450 g;
  • Water 650 g.

Heat until complete dissolution.

Method of use

200 g of this composition is added to 1 liter of liquid starch paste.

Wax laundry tablets

Melt 400 g of paraffin in a water bath, add a strong solution of soda ash in an amount sufficient to form a thin paste. Pour into molds or tins, when hardened, cut into square pieces.

Method of use

Placed together with soap in a tank for boiling laundry.

Gloss starch powder

  • Rice starch 100 g;
  • Borax 20 g;
  • Gum arabic 17 g;
  • Salt 2 g.

Grind all the compositions into powder and mix.

Gloss starch No. 1

  • Borax powder 9 kg;
  • Boric acid 15 kg;
  • Stearin 3 kg;
  • White wax 3 kg.

All the components listed above are boiled and mixed with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide 20 °Be until a liquid mass of a homogeneous composition is obtained and then dried. The product obtained in this way is mixed with fine rice starch at the rate of 1 part by weight of the mixture per 10 part by weight of starch, and a starch gloss is obtained, which gives the linen a high shine and hardness.

Gloss starch No. 2

  • Rice starch 100 g;
  • Borax powder 5 g;
  • Boric acid 2,3 g;

Mix, rub through a hair sieve.

Gloss starch No. 3

  • Starch powder 435 g;
  • Borax 85 g;
  • Table salt 10 g;
  • White gum arabica 75 g;
  • Stearin powder 275 g

Gloss starch No. 4

  • Solid paraffin 2 g;
  • Spermaceti 0,5 g;
  • Stearin 4 g.

Gloss agent for starching

  • Ultramarine blue 10 g;
  • Spermaceti 120 g;
  • Gum Arabica 120 g;
  • Borax 120 g;
  • Glycerin 240 g;
  • Paraffin 400 g.

For a smell, add a little of any aromatic oil. The above components are dissolved in heat or over low heat and poured into molds (approximately 15-20 g each) while warm. The tablets obtained by cooling are ready for use.

Method of use

One such tablet is thrown into one liter of boiling starch, which is boiled for several minutes more than usual.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New principle of X-ray generation 16.02.2021

X-rays, which are widely used in medicine, flaw detection and many other fields, are usually obtained using special vacuum devices called X-ray tubes. Inside these tubes, electrons are accelerated by a high electrical potential and collide with a metal anode. The energy of accelerated electrons is transferred to the metal atoms, which pass into an excited state, a complex oscillatory process occurs that generates a radiation flux in the X-ray range.

Unfortunately, the generated radiation flux spreads uniformly in all directions, and the properties of X-rays greatly complicate the task of focusing them and forming a narrow directional beam; moreover, the X-ray pulse front in most cases has an absolutely random shape.

However, physicists from the University of Göttingen have developed a new principle for generating X-rays, which allows you to get a beam directed in a strictly specified direction.

The new technology is based on a structure of three materials with completely different electronic characteristics. And the thickness of such a three-layer "sandwich" is only a few millionths of a millimeter.

An object made from such a thin layered material is placed in place of a metal anode in a conventional X-ray tube. X-ray parameters can be controlled at the stage of production of a multilayer anode by changing the order of alternation and thickness of layers of different materials.
