the best product to achieve simultaneous bleaching and washing is sodium perborate, since it decomposes into borax, which is a good washing agent. It is necessary to use only the highest quality sodium perborate, otherwise it will lose oxygen and quickly lose its valuable properties. Sodium perborate enters into a chemical interaction with the fatty acids of the soap powder, which destroys its useful qualities; therefore it is best to pack soap powder and perborate separately.

It is most convenient to pour soap powder into a cardboard box and put a parchment or oil paper bag filled with perborate on top of it.

Whitening soap according to the Buzon method

  • Palm oil (yellowish) 50 kg;
  • Coconut oil 25 kg;
  • Fat or bone fat 25 kg;
  • Caustic soda solution 22 °Be 125 kg;
  • Borax 1 kg;
  • Water 18 kg;
  • Ammonia 22 °Be 10 kg;
  • Turpentine 9 kg.

The above fats are melted, mixed and saponified with a solution of sodium hydroxide. The mass is heated until caustic soda boils and, when everything is well combined, pour in borax, previously diluted in 18 liters of water, stirring well. After half an hour, the mass is cooled to a moderate temperature and turpentine is added. Then the mass is carefully covered and left to stand for 5-6 hours, maintaining a temperature of 45-50 °C. After this time, it is poured into a mold to allow it to harden.

Composition for laundry and hand washing

According to the patent of A. V. Borisov-Shirokov, the composition for washing clothes and washing hands heavily contaminated with difficult-to-wash substances (oil, paint, etc.) is obtained as follows.

From 6 to 9 parts by weight of freshly prepared soap is ground into a soft mass, to which 6 to 9 parts by weight of anhydrous soda, 2 to 5 parts by weight of gasoline and 3 to 5 parts by weight of 3% hydrogen peroxide are added in any order. In the process of adding these substances, the whole mass is thoroughly mixed. In the manufacture of a composition for washing hands, 0,5 to 1 parts by weight of crushed pumice is added to the mixture. The resulting mass is pressed into pieces of the desired shape.

When boiling laundry with this composition, be aware of the fire hazard, since the composition contains gasoline.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The fate of the handwritten letter 04.07.2012

The British company Docmail conducted an interesting study, which studied the prevalence of handwriting at the present stage of scientific and technological progress. Surprisingly, although modern computer technology has become widespread only recently, and cannot be compared with the thousand-year tradition of manuscripts, handwriting as a way of recording information is rapidly disappearing.

According to the results of the study, on average, a modern person does not write by hand for 41 days, and one in three did not pick up a fountain pen for six months. As the researchers at Docmail point out, there is still a need for personal signatures, but people are already making shopping lists, taking notes, writing postcards, and so on. on the screens of smartphones, tablets, etc.

Two-thirds of the 2000 respondents said they do take notes, but these are usually short reminder notes. The researchers explain the rapid "decline" of the handwritten text by the natural desire of people to facilitate and speed up communication. What used to be described in multi-page letters can now be said over the phone or sent as a video. That is why the fountain pen is becoming a thing of the past and even more: more than half of those surveyed admitted that their handwriting has noticeably deteriorated since their school days and, on average, one in seven people is ashamed of their illegible handwriting. It won't be long before good handwriting will be as rare as a talent for painting.
