Soap can be divided into two groups: hard and soft. Soaps of the first group, despite the content of even a large amount of water, have hardness and strength and can be molded. Soft soaps, even with the smallest amount of water, are always soft and creamy.

Solid soaps are also called soda soaps and are divided according to their properties and method of preparation into three groups: sound, semi-core and adhesive.

Toilet and medicinal soaps are varieties of hard soaps.

Sound Soaps

Heart soaps are obtained by saponifying with caustic soda mainly solid fats and then salting out the soap to separate it from excess water and glycerin with a solution of sodium chloride or strong lye. The heart soap is collected at the top of the kettle and separated from the so-called soap liquor. Heart soaps contain, on average, about 60% fatty acids.

Semi-core (schweger) soaps

Such soaps are obtained by saponifying fats or oils with caustic soda, with the indispensable addition of coconut or palm kernel oil or their acids.

They have a partly crystalline (core), partly non-crystalline structure, due to which they have a marbled appearance in the section. In this case, their marble is often distinguished by appropriate staining. Semi-core soaps are brewed in two ways. The first method (direct) is that coconut or palm kernel oil is boiled together with other fats: lard, bleached palm oil, bone fat, etc.

The second method (indirect) consists in the fact that from one or more of the listed fats a heart soap is prepared, which is added to a separately brewed glutinous soap from coconut or palm kernel oil.

If fatty acids are used, then soap can also be prepared by carbonate saponification of the method.

Adhesive soaps

When saponifying fats or oils with caustic soda, the resulting soap solution is not salted out, but is poured into molds for solidification. With this method, glycerol and excess alkali are not separated. Adhesive soaps are either smooth or have a partly crystalline and partly non-crystalline structure, in section similar to a marble surface, and therefore they are called marble soaps. Sometimes marbling is distinguished by adding dyes (ultramarine, Frankfurt black, etc.) to the still hot soap.

Toilet soaps

These soaps are made from the finest materials. They are usually painted in different colors, and various odorous substances are added to them to smell.

Medical soaps

These soaps are prepared by mixing various medicinal and disinfecting agents into the basic good soap.

Soft (viburnum soaps)

These soaps are divided into three grades:

  • smooth transparent soap having various colors and names, such as oil soap, green soap, black soap, liquid glycerin soap, etc.;
  • soap, which has nucleoli in its main smooth mass, the so-called natural sound soap or liquid sound soap .;
  • opaque white or yellowish white soap, called smooth oleic soap, silver soap, etc.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The size of the dog and its tendency to aggression 06.02.2024

Researchers from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil have discovered interesting trends in dogs' aggressive behavior related to their size. The study's findings indicate that large dogs, in general, exhibit less aggression than small breeds, prompting a reexamination of common beliefs about pet temperament.

The findings demonstrate that aggression in dogs depends on their size, head shape, gender and the level of activity of the owner. Understanding these factors can help improve the human-animal relationship and promote the development of more effective training and education methods for pets.

In the study, more than 665 dogs of various breeds were included in the analysis to identify factors that influence the level of aggression in pets. Owners completed online questionnaires regarding their own profile, pet characteristics, and any aggressive behavior exhibited by their dogs.

Experts have confirmed that the larger and heavier the dog, the less likely it is to behave aggressively. Each additional kilogram of mass reduces aggression by 3%. Small breeds, especially those with flattened faces, are more likely to be aggressive than large and medium-sized breeds.

Factors such as the dog's gender and the owner's activity level also played a role in the level of aggression. Females showed less aggression towards their owner than males, and dogs that were walked regularly by their owners were less aggressive.

These results allow us to better understand the nature of aggressive behavior among domestic dogs and help create a more informed attitude towards choosing a breed and raising a pet.
