As is well known, filter paper has the disadvantage that liquids are filtered through it comparatively slowly, especially those with a more or less thick and viscous consistency. This shortcoming is especially noticeable when a significant amount of these liquids are filtered.

In these cases, the filter paper can be successfully replaced filter suede.

A piece of suede is soaked in a weak solution of soda to remove the fats contained in it and then rinsed thoroughly in cold water. Suede prepared in this way is used as filter paper. Not only all kinds of tinctures are filtered through it very cleanly and at the same time, but also very thick syrups, as well as viscous, slimy vegetable juices.

The speed of this process can already be judged by the fact that a liter of the thickest syrup is filtered in 15 minutes.

Another important advantage of filter suede is that it can last a very long time; it is only necessary to rinse it thoroughly after each use.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Panasonic DDL Laser 11.02.2020

Panasonic has unveiled the world's brightest and most powerful blue laser. This achievement was made possible by the combination of several technologies - direct diode laser (DDL) technology and wavelength beam combining (WBC) technology, due to which the device outputs a single powerful beam of blue laser light. . Moreover, this technology allows scaling to any level, and by increasing the number of laser light sources, it is possible to increase the power of the output beam to unimaginable values.

A DDL laser is a semiconductor system that emits a highly focused beam of light in a given direction. Unlike other solid-state laser technologies, DDL technology allows for smaller, more efficient devices that produce more output with less energy, and this is the key reason why such lasers are widely used in laser welding, cutting, etc. P.

Panasonic has been working in this direction for a long time. Since 2013, the company has been cooperating with TeraDiode (TDI), which developed WBC technologies, and in 2017, Panasonic simply absorbed TDI, and this made it possible to develop an effective technology for reducing the laser light wavelength in a fairly short time.

Panasonic's new laser operates in a rather narrow range of 400 to 450 nanometers, although conventional blue lasers cover a wider range of 360 to 480 nanometers. And in the output beam of the device, the energy of light emitted by hundreds of DDL lasers is concentrated. At the same time, laser diodes were made in the form of matrices located on separate semiconductor crystals, which also contain all the necessary control electronics.

The new blue laser, according to representatives of Panasonic, is an ideal device for creating micromachining technology for such complex materials as copper, silver, gold, etc., which have high thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of these materials requires the use of such an amount of light energy for their processing that not only laser systems generating lower energy and longer wavelength radiation are unable to supply, but also conventional blue laser systems, which lag behind the new system by at least two orders of magnitude in terms of output power.
