Synology has unveiled the RackStation RS3617xs NAS, designed for rack mounting.

The NAS RackStation RS3617xs is based on a 3GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E1230-2 v3,3 processor. The amount of RAM in the basic configuration is 4 GB, but it can be increased up to 32 GB. The storage is designed for 12 2,5" or 3,5" SATA drives. Their total volume can reach 96 TB, but the presence of two expansion ports allows you to increase the storage capacity up to 288 TB. You can also note the presence of two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports.

Network connectivity is provided by four Gigabit Ethernet ports with aggregation support. It is possible to install expansion cards with additional ports, including 10 GbE. According to the manufacturer, the data transfer rate reaches 3263 MB / s, and the performance is 333941 IOPS in a RAID 5 configuration and 10 GbE ports in aggregation mode. Drives can also be enabled in Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, 1, 6, and 10 configurations.

The RS3617xs runs the DiskStation Manager (DSM) NAS operating system and supports VMware, Citrix and Hyper-V virtualization tools.
