Here are the recipes rubber-like masses for toys.

1st recipe:

Starch is mixed dry with zinc oxide and cream of tartar (instead of cream of tartar, you can take burnt alum). The number of components is taken depending on the type of manufactured items:

  • Zinc oxides from 20 to 100 wt. hours;
  • Cream of tartar or burnt alum from 5 to 10 wt. hours;
  • Starch 100 wt. h.

An aqueous solution of zinc chloride with a strength of about 42 °Be is added to the mixture of these powders and a thick dough-like mass is obtained by stirring, which is rolled into sheets of appropriate thickness, cut into strips and pressed into molds. If necessary, the molded parts of the products are connected (separate halves) using some kind of glue. To make massive objects, the dough is placed in double molds and pressed.

If you take it by 1 weight. parts of powder and at least 2/3 parts of liquid by volume, then a liquid suitable for casting is obtained. Mixing powders with liquid must be done at a temperature of 15 °C. The resulting liquid mixture is poured into preheated molds. Objects formed in this way at first seem fragile and brittle, but immediately after placing them in a hot water bath heated to 50 ° C, they become flexible and elastic.

2st recipe:

The following composition gives a dough-like mass suitable for pressing. For 1 weight Parts of starch take from 10 to 20% zinc oxide and from 2 to 4% cream of tartar or burnt alum. For each weight part of the mixture take 1% weight. including a solution of zinc chloride with a strength of 50 to 60 °Be. The temperature is kept constant from 15 to 30 °C.

Obtained according to the above recipes, various objects are covered with a matte collodion cover (a mixture of collodion with an ethereal solution of wax in a ratio of 6: 1). Instead of collodion, soluble glass is used to coat the surface of small items.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food.
