Here are some recipes artificial rubber.

1st recipe

From the old, already unusable rubber a product is prepared that can be used like ordinary rubber and which, compared with the latter, has a significantly higher tear resistance due to the release of vegetable protein substances from the rubber during processing.

Old unusable rubber is first washed until all dirt adhering to it is completely removed, then it is immersed for several days in the liquid of the following composition. 3 g of emetic stone are dissolved in 4-300 buckets of boiling water and 1 kg of tannic acid or an appropriate amount of substances containing tannic acid is added to the solution. If the processed rubber becomes sticky, then the emetic stone is replaced with 600 g of calcium sulfate (the solution is prepared in cold water).

When processing rubber, which occupies a middle position between sticky and non-sticky, 250 g of calcium sulfite are added to the indicated solution of emetic stone. In this or that solution, the rubber is left until it is properly softened, then it is taken out and dried in warm air. Finally, it is rolled between rollers into more or less thin sheets, from which the necessary things are made, like ordinary rubber.

Rubber treated in this way tends not to attract moisture.

2st recipe

The old rubber is thoroughly crushed, mixed with equal parts by weight of technical castor oil and the mixture is heated to 180-210 °C until the rubber dissolves. After cooling, the mixture is poured into twice the volume of 90° alcohol. Then rubber is released from this mixture and settles to the bottom in the form of a viscous mass, and castor oil dissolves in alcohol. After this, separate the rubber from the rest of the mixture and wash it with a small amount of fresh alcohol (to remove any remaining castor oil) until a drop placed on the paper, after the alcohol evaporates, leaves no trace.

Since the resulting rubber mass contains some more alcohol, it is washed first in warm water mixed with a small amount of alkali, and then with clean tap water. Rubber rolled (rolled) into thin sheets soon completely loses moisture and acquires excellent qualities.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Screen for the blind 02.11.2019

A new shape-shifting tactile display allows visually impaired people to touch XNUMXD objects and navigate complex programs.

Blind and visually impaired people cannot fully use computers without special devices. A group of developers from Stanford came up with a new way of interaction between a computer and a visually impaired person. The device displays information in 3D, as if in a CAD program, using a "2,5D display" consisting of pins that can be raised or lowered.

The "2,5D display" consists of 288 thin pins arranged in a 12x24 rectangle. Their upper ends are rounded, and they themselves can rise to different heights, recreating the shape of different objects. This happens so quickly that the "screen" is able to work in real time.

"This opens up new opportunities for blind people to be not only consumers of technology, but also to create their own using XNUMXD modeling," explained one of the developers, Joshua Miele, who, by the way, is blind himself.

The screen is called "2,5D" because it cannot show the entire object as if it were floating in the air. But it allows you to determine the shape of the object in question. Of course, the resolution of the "screen" is limited. A sighted person can get an idea of a three-dimensional object by rotating it on the screen. It is very difficult to do this in non-visual ways. But the tactile display is able to show any object in real time, quickly and smoothly changing the shape of its surface. It can even broadcast moving objects.

The device is still far from commercial implementation. The developers plan to reduce the size of the pins and thereby increase the resolution of the "screen".
