There are a wide variety of designs backpacks, but in essence, as he was - a bag with straps, so he remained a bag.

Backpacks are of two types:

  • anatomical, soft, in particular, an ordinary bag with two ropes can be attributed to them;
  • easel, with a rigid supporting frame.

Modern anatomical backpacks are much superior in quality to easel ones, but easel ones are indispensable when carrying oversized cargo. Therefore, if you are going on a simple trip and intend to take only personal items with you, do not hesitate to take an anatomical backpack. But if you go to work and at the same time it will be necessary to drag equipment with you, then it makes sense to think about the machine.

Anatomical backpacks

The most important quality of these backpacks is the most accurate connection with the human figure. It is these backpacks that are used in all extreme travel, because. even an anatomical backpack fully loaded with a heavy load allows you to make long and technically difficult transitions.

How to choose a backpack?

The backpack should fit the back in shape and size.

With a fully loaded backpack, you should stand as straight as possible without effort.

The backpack should fit snugly against the back and not dangle when moving.

When tilting forward and sideways, squats and other complex movements, there should not be a feeling of squeezing or tension in such and such separate parts of the body.

1. A backpack should fit you in the same way as a suit or boots in which they go to the theater or to a diplomatic reception. Your well-being, health, and sometimes life depends on it. But for some reason, the tradition of sewing an evening suit in an atelier does not surprise anyone, and backpacks have to be bought in "ready-made dress stores." Trying on a backpack, ask to fill it with something soft. The belt should be on the hips, the upper edge at the level of the pelvic bone, the shoulder straps are attached to the backpack 5-8 cm below shoulder height. This size will allow you to best distribute the load between the hips and shoulders. Otherwise, the load will be concentrated only on the hips or on the shoulders. Both are bad, or the shoulders will hurt, or the pants will slide off.

If your shoulders are not wide, then the position of the shoulder straps may be too wide, or otherwise they may cut into your neck. The body shape of men and women is very different. Women tend to have narrow waists and steep hips, while men tend to have straight hips and no waist. In addition, each individual has individual characteristics, so choosing the right backpack is no less difficult than shoes. If you have hands, then take the time and carry out an individual fit yourself.

2. The design of the backpack should allow you to stand upright with a loaded backpack. This requirement arose from taking into account the structural features of the spine. The spine is designed to evenly distribute the load in a straightened state. The most mobile part of the spine is above the pelvis. This area takes the main load, and therefore the most vulnerable, which is why many have lower back pain.

In addition to placing undue stress on your back, a poorly designed backpack will force you to lean forward to maintain your balance. In this case, the cartilaginous discs located between the vertebrae are deformed and partially lose their elasticity in places of compression. If they remain in this state for a long time, then all sorts of pathologies and diseases begin to develop. "We do not need such tourism" - as they used to say. A well-designed pack has an effective waist belt to take the pressure off the spine and should have a stiff lumbar to keep the shape of the spine. In addition, the backpack should be flat so that its center of gravity is as close to the back as possible.

3. The backpack should fit snugly. When you stand still, your center of gravity is in the lower abdomen, but as soon as you start moving, you lose your balance. Without realizing it, you are constantly moving your torso to balance the movement of your hips and legs. When moving, the center of gravity moves up and down, right and left and back and forth. When you put on a backpack, it becomes an extension of your body, your center of gravity takes on a new position. It is important that the position of the backpack is stable on the back. If it shifts, it also shifts your center of gravity and unbalances you. If the backpack even dangles a little, then this misleads your vestibular apparatus, it may not lead to a fall, but it will definitely exhaust yours.

4. When moving, the loaded surfaces of the back and shoulders move independently of other loaded surfaces - the pelvis and buttocks. With complex movements, such as bending over, your body moves at all without regard to the fact that there is a bag on your back. Maybe that's why "professional tourists" almost never take off their backpacks from their backs, except that they just go to bed without them.

Based on this, it is very important that the backpack, if possible, repeats your movements, also stretches and bends like your back. This is achieved, first of all, by the design and material of the backpack, as well as its loading. It should not be stuffed too tightly with junk.

There are two types of loading anatomical backpacks.

1) Absolutely everything is put inside the backpack

2) What can be hung outside, such as a tent, rug, ax, etc., is hung outside.

The second method makes the backpack more flexible and easier to walk with, although all these things begin to cling to all sorts of branches and other obstacles. Depending on the upcoming trip, you should choose the method of laying.

easel backpacks

Easel backpacks are equipped with a suspension system consisting of an aluminum (rarely titanium) frame and a cloth belt. This design provides a more comfortable carrying of the backpack, transferring some of the weight from the shoulders to the pelvic area. Straps and a bag with a volume of 50 to 100 liters are attached to the frame. Such backpacks are more convenient for carrying cargo than "koloboks" and do not require much skill in packing things. An air gap is formed between the backpack and the back, which ensures ventilation of the back.

The disadvantages of easel backpacks include the rigidity of their frame, which, for example, can cause serious injury if dropped. They are difficult to raise or lower on a rope on steep slopes and in vertical caves, and the weight of the backpack increases significantly due to the frame.

The choice of an easel backpack is no different from the choice of an anatomical one. True, it is impossible to demand from him that he fits snugly against the body.

It is desirable that the bottom of the machine has a horizontal loading platform. The removable bag allows you to use the machine itself separately for carrying oversized cargo. The straps must be attached to the frame.

No matter how you adjust this backpack for height, it will still dangle slightly, so it is not recommended to go mountain hiking with it. But for hiking across the plain, and even if you need to carry fragile loads, such a backpack is indispensable.

The simplest backpack

Take or sew a rectangular bag from a suitable material. Put a pine cone in the bottom corners of the bag, no cones, small potatoes will do. Tie them with rope. Make a loop in the middle of the rope and throw it over the neck of the bag.

Everything, the simplest backpack is ready. Maybe not as beautiful and comfortable as at exhibitions of tourist equipment, but we go not only to exhibitions.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Signal circuit boards found inside human cells 01.06.2019

Cells can format communication networks to change their behavior. The discovery of this network revolutionizes our understanding of how instructions travel around the cell.

It was previously thought that the various organs and structures inside the cell float in the open sea called the cytoplasm. Scientists assumed that the signals that tell the cell what to do are transmitted in waves, and the frequency of the waves is a crucial part of communication.

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh have found that information is transmitted through a network of guide wires that send signals over tiny, nanoscale distances.

The researchers argue that it is the movement of charged molecules across these tiny distances that transmits information, as in a computer microprocessor.

Localized signals are responsible for controlling cell activity, such as instructing muscle cells to relax or contract. When these signals reach the genetic material at the heart of the cell, called the nucleus, they signal subtle changes in structure, releasing certain genes so they can be expressed.

These changes in gene expression further alter the behavior of the cell. When, for example, a cell moves from a steady state to a growth phase, the network is completely reconfigured to transmit signals that turn on the genes necessary for growth.

The researchers say that understanding the code that controls this system could help understand diseases such as pulmonary hypertension and cancer and one day open up new treatment options.

The team made the discovery by studying the movement of charged calcium molecules inside cells, which are key signals that carry instructions inside cells.

Using powerful microscopes, they were able to observe this signaling system with computational techniques similar to those that made it possible to obtain the first ever image of a black hole.

The scientists say their results are an example of quantum biology, a growing field that uses quantum mechanics and theoretical chemistry to solve biological problems.
