It is impossible to tell about all the features of this work in a note, but you need to know the most important rules before you start manufacturing any radio engineering design for the first time.

Many circuits use micropower microcircuits made using CMOS technology (series 561, 1561, 564), as well as field-effect transistors. All these parts, until they are installed on the board, are afraid of static electricity. On a person, it is formed due to the friction of clothing and can exceed a potential of 1000 V. Therefore, before touching these parts, it is necessary to put on a grounded bracelet or at least touch the heating battery metal with your hand. Parts that are afraid of static electricity should be stored in metal foil or in special boxes. To protect field-effect transistors, their conclusions can be wrapped with a bare wire, which is removed during installation. Mounting these parts on the board is best done last, after installing all the other parts.

The assembly of the printed circuit board begins with the installation of elements that require mechanical fastening. At the same time, it is sometimes necessary to expand the holes and grooves, and it is inconvenient to do this with already installed parts.

All installed parts must not have scratches, cracks, dents or any other mechanical damage on the body. Even if such details work, it does not mean that it will last long. The parts are installed so that they do not touch each other.

The soldering iron is best used with a grounded tip, and the temperature of the tip should be around 270°C. If it is much higher, then the solder on the tip quickly burns out and becomes gray, and at normal temperature, the molten solder does not lose its mirror shine, which remains even after it cools. Such soldering provides a high-quality electrical connection.

To speed up soldering, liquid alcohol-rosin flux is used - it destroys the oxide film on the surface of the leads of the parts. Flux can be easily made on your own by dissolving a piece of rosin in alcohol in a ratio of about 1:10.

When soldering the elements, in order not to overheat them, the soldering iron with solder on the tip touches the leads for no more than 3 seconds. At the same time, it is convenient to hold the elements themselves with tweezers. For better soldering, it is useful to pre-irradiate the leads of parts before installation on the board. When installing the elements, their conclusions are bent so that the marking is visible. This will come in handy when you set up the device and understand installation errors.

Some parts (diodes, zener diodes, electrolytic capacitors, etc.) have polarity, and it must be observed during installation. It is most easy to make a mistake with the installation of electrolytic capacitors, especially imported ones, since it is difficult to find reference information on them, and the polarity is not indicated on the case.

In this case, it is convenient to use a circuit that will allow you to easily determine its polarity by the minimum leakage current of the capacitor.

Features of assembly and installation of electrical circuits

Leakage is measured indirectly by the voltage drop across the resistor R1 after the charge of the connected capacitor is completed. The voltage supplied from the power supply must not exceed the allowable operating voltage for the capacitor. If the polarity of the capacitor is connected incorrectly, the leakage will be 10 ... 100 times greater than the correct one. A voltmeter for these measurements is needed with a large input resistance, for example B7-38A.

After soldering is completed, we shorten the protruding leads of the parts and wash off the remains of rosin with a solvent, which will allow us to control the quality of the installation: there should be no drops of solder and inter-track shorts on the board.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

1200V CoolSiC G5 Schottky Diodes in D2PAK Dual Lead Package 03.09.2020

Infineon has launched new 1200 V Schottky diodes of the fifth generation (Gen 5) based on CoolSiC technology in a D2PAK (TO-263-2) package.

The average current of the diodes is from 2 to 20 A. They are great for use in conjunction with a super-junction MOSFET or IGBT. Scope: pulse rectifiers, power supplies, KKM. The use of diodes of the G5 generation makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the system relative to the same system based on silicon diodes by up to 1%.

The 1200V CoolSiC G5 diodes feature best-in-class forward voltage (Vf) and low temperature response.

Features:

Zero reverse recovery charge (Qrr);
Low forward voltage (including at high temperature);
Higher efficiency compared to silicon diodes;
High resistance to current surges;
Two-pin D2PAK package (TO-263-2) with 4,7 mm creepage distance and 4,4 mm air gap.

Areas of use:

Electric vehicle charging systems;
Welders;
Solar energy conversion systems;
Engine management systems;
Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS);
Industrial switching power supplies (SMPS).
