Corydalis Gallera (dense Corydalis), Corydalis solida Swartz. Classification, synonyms, botanical description, nutritional value, cultivation

Corydalis Gallera (corydalis dense)

Synonym: C. Halleri Willd.

Perennial plant with scale-like leaves at the base of the stem, mostly branched.

Tuber 8-15 mm in diameter, light brown.

Stem 8-20 cm tall, simple or with one branch in the axil of scale-like leaf; the latter is located low above the tuber, large, oblong. In the axils of the lower scaly leaves there is a renewal bud. At its base is the cambium, which will form the next year's tuber (the rest will die off). Sometimes in adult powerful specimens, 2 kidneys work this way, which can lead to the formation of small clones.

Leaves are usually 2; tender, bluish; petioles are not long; plate wide, twice, almost thrice ternate; segments on long petioles, almost to the base or up to 1/4-1/2 incised into linear-oblong, slightly wedge-shaped, obtuse, rarely obovate lobules; sometimes the lobes are entire or at the apex with 2-4 blunt teeth.

Inflorescence - brush; rather dense, cylindrical; bracts cuneate obovate, incised anteriorly into linear lobes or dentate (solid in Corydalis intermedia).

Pedicels filiform, lower ones almost equal to bracts, up to 10 mm long, upper ones shorter.

Sepals very small, inconspicuous; corollas pink-violet, 15-20 mm long, the limb of the outer petals is rather wide, widely notched at the top, without a tooth in the notch; lower lobe with a noticeable tubercle at the base; spur almost straight or more often slightly arcuate downwards, blunt, equal to petals or slightly longer than them, moderately thick.

Fruit: pod-like capsules; drooping or deviated, oblong, 10-12 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, pointed at the apex into a spout. The stigma is discoid, finely warty-toothed along the edge.

Seeds are black, shiny, without dots, about 2 mm in diameter, caruncle is narrowly ribbon-like, membranous, erect, not long.

Blooms in April - May.

According to the Poison Information Center HUS (Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiiri), the plant is non-toxic.

Corydalis Gallera (corydalis dense)

Grows in Europe, in Siberia, Central Kazakhstan.

It occurs in light forests, in bushes, in forest glades, edges.

The seeds are dispersed by ants that feed on their fleshy, oily appendages.

The plant tubers are juicy, sweetish. However, before use, they must be boiled in water.

Used as an ornamental garden plant.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Car electric refueling 06.09.2010

A Tokyo taxi company has set up a station in the Japanese capital to refuel its electric vehicles. For speed, the batteries are not charged, but replaced with pre-charged ones. The car drives into the "pit", and the robot, moving down the rails, replaces the empty battery with a full one, and puts the empty one on charge.

So far, only 12 lithium-ion batteries are stored at the experimental station, each of which allows a taxi to travel up to 160 kilometers. By the end of 2010, one such station should appear in France, in 2011 - a whole network in Israel.

A cooperation agreement has also been signed with a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, which has promised to adapt its vehicles for quick battery replacement.
