Ash ordinary

Family Olive, class Dicotyledonous, department Angiosperms.

Common ash grows in broad-leaved and mixed forests on rich soils, and also settles in forest ravines. The height of a tree can reach 30 m, although the average height is 20 m. The maximum age of an ash tree is 200-300 years.

The bark of the trunk is dark grey. The leaves are compound, pinnate, arranged oppositely on the branches, one opposite the other.

Ash blossoms in early spring before the leaves bloom. The flowers are small, without perianth, collected in bunches. The fruits are lionfish.

Ash is a light-loving tree; it grows poorly under the dense crowns of other trees. This tree has openwork light crowns, it is light and clear under it. Indeed, ash is a clear tree.

Ash ordinary

Ash has complex leaves: on a long common petiole, medium-sized oblong leaves are arranged in pairs, and at the end there is another leaf, so the leaf is called unpaired. Along the edges of the leaves are finely serrated like a nail file, they are lighter below than above.

The compound leaves of the ash tree, unlike the compound leaves of other plants, fall to the ground in autumn as a whole, and not as individual leaves. The distribution of fruits, like pollination, occurs with the help of wind.

Each fruitlet is a narrow lionfish up to 4 cm long, has some resemblance to a small boat oar, in the expanded part of which a small, rather wide seed is placed.

Ash wood is valued as a material for sports equipment.

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Service for shared rides on self-driving vehicles 21.10.2019

In 2021, Panasonic plans to launch a ride-sharing service in small towns using small self-driving electric vehicles. This month, the manufacturer has already launched such a service at its headquarters in Osaka Prefecture. It is available to employees working here.

The electric vehicles travel along a route that is about 2,4 km long and takes them about 21 minutes to complete. The maximum speed of the electric vehicle is 20 km/h. The traffic schedule is flexible, determined by the needs of users, but the minimum traffic interval is only 10 minutes. The electric car has four seats.

Panasonic's automated driving system uses high-precision human recognition technology. If necessary, the electric vehicle can be operated manually - remotely or on site.

Panasonic expects such services to be rolled out to theme parks or venues for major events such as the 2025 Osaka World Expo.
