dislocation called persistent displacement of the articular ends of the bones, accompanied by a rupture of the capsule and damage to the ligaments of the joint. There are congenital and acquired dislocations.

Acquired dislocations include traumatic dislocations (occur with injuries) and pathological dislocations (developing with certain diseases of the joints, for example, with the growth of a bone tumor).

Distinguish dislocations completewhen the articular surfaces completely lose contact, and incomplete (subluxations) - while maintaining partial contact of the articular surfaces of the bones that form the joint.

If a dislocated bone or a traumatic force violates the integrity of the skin in the joint area, then such a dislocation is called open, it is dangerous for microbes to enter the wound from the skin and the subsequent development of an inflammatory process in the joint.

A long-term unreduced dislocation is considered chronic. Often repeated dislocation in the same joint is called habitual. In cases of damage to large vessels and nerves by a dislocated bone, they speak of a complicated dislocation, with a simultaneous fracture of one of the bones that form the joint, a fracture-dislocation.

Dislocations occur more often in joints with a large range of motion - in spherical and blocky. As a rule, the bone located to the periphery (outside) of the joint is displaced. By the name of the displaced bone, the dislocation is called: in the hip joint - dislocation of the hip, in the knee - dislocation of the lower leg, in the ankle - dislocation of the foot, in the shoulder - dislocation of the shoulder, in the elbow - dislocation of the forearm, in the wrist - dislocation of the hand.

Evidence: pain, swelling, dysfunction of the joint, forced position of the limb, deformity of the joint, spring resistance in the joint when trying to change the position of the limb, which occurs due to the contraction of the muscles surrounding the joint.

First aid

Transport immobilization (without changing the position in the joint). In case of dislocation in the joints of the upper limb, it is easier to implement it by applying a Dezo bandage (see Fig. 64), a kerchief bandage (Fig. 41) or fixing a hollow jacket. In case of dislocation in the joints of the lower limb, the victim is placed on a mattress, on a stretcher shield, or transport ladder or improvised tires are applied, which should be of such length that they fix the limb, capturing the injured joint, as well as one joint above and below the damage.

Dislocations. Health care

Fig.41. kerchief bandage

Cold on the area of the injured joint to reduce pain, swelling and bruising.

With severe pain - intramuscular or subcutaneous administration of narcotic analgesics.

Applying a sterile dressing on open dislocations

During the provision of first aid, a dislocation cannot be reduced: this manipulation is a medical operation, carried out in a hospital with mandatory x-ray control.

Necessary equipment: a bandage, a scarf, stair transport or improvised tires, a stretcher shield, a mattress or improvised means, an ice pack or a heating pad with cold water, narcotic analgesics in a syringe tube, an individual dressing bag.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

SMS from Joulupukki 30.05.2005

Finnish engineers have created a northern lights alert service for the convenience of tourists.

In the far North, one can observe the most beautiful natural phenomenon - the northern lights. Its cause is the streams of solar wind particles, which in the region of the poles from time to time break through the planet's radiation belts and reach the dense layers of the atmosphere. For example, in the Lapland village of Rovaniemi, the residence of the Finnish Santa Claus, it happens almost every day from November to March. However, no one can predict the exact time, and an inquisitive tourist is forced to look at the sky for many hours so as not to miss the beauty.

"We decided to help people," says Miikka Raulo, director of the Lapland Center of Expertise for Industrial Development. "Now tourists can receive a message about the northern lights directly on their cell phone. This service is already very popular."

The service works like this. The tourist either orders the service via the Internet before the trip, or rents a mobile phone at the airport. It is there that a special sensor that monitors the glow of the sky sends a text message about the beginning of the northern lights.
