  • frostbite of the skin as a result of exposure to liquefied gas when it exits from faulty equipment.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Examine the clothing and make sure it is in good condition. Put on overalls, fasten it with all buttons, put your hair under a headdress.

2.2. Before carrying out repair work, make sure that the equipment is disconnected from pressure sources and a poster is posted on it: "Do not turn it on - people are working!"

2.3. Check the workplace (at the equipment, workbench). Make sure that it is sufficiently lit and not cluttered with foreign objects, that the tool for use in explosive environments is lubricated with grease (or copper-plated).

2.4. The floor in the workplace must be flat and not slippery.

2.5. Check the availability and serviceability of the working tool. The hammer should be mounted on an oval handle with a length of 300-350 mm, wedged with a metal pointed wedge, the surface of the striker should be slightly convex and without burrs. Wrenches must correspond to the nominal sizes, it is forbidden to build up wrenches with other items. All percussion instruments must be made of tool steel. The handles of hand tools must be well fitted and have a smooth surface without cracks or burrs.

2.6. Find out the circuit of the disconnected section, warn consumers about the disconnection.

2.7. When working with lifting gear, check the test date. Make sure that the terms of use of the mechanisms have not expired.

2.8. If you are going to work at height, check the serviceability of the scaffolding and scaffolding, their strength, stability, the presence and integrity of the railings from the outside. Make sure ladders and ladders are in good condition. Lean ladders must have mortise treads and metal spikes (for installation on wood or earth floors) or rubber tips (for installation on concrete or stone floors). Ladders must have a device that prevents their spontaneous expansion.

3.3. carried out only after degreasing with carbon tetrachloride, while:

  • degreased pipelines and fittings must be dried;
  • degreasing and drying of pipes is carried out in the open air;
  • the mounted oxygen pipeline must be divided into separate sections that do not have dead-end branches and degreased, followed by purging with nitrogen from a cylinder and ejecting nitrogen outside the room.
  • remember that dichloroethane is toxic.

3.5. When servicing gas filters, cleaning should be carried out outside the GRP, GRU room, on the street, flushing should be done in a bucket with diesel fuel.

3.6. The person responsible for carrying out the repair of oxygen pipelines is the engineer appointed by the order for the enterprise.

3.7. The oxygen piping must be painted blue and labeled "Oxygen" and "Oil Hazardous". The oxygen line must be grounded.

3.7. Personnel operating and repairing oxygen equipment are prohibited.

  • carry out repairs of cylinders filled with liquefied gas and their valves;

  • smoking and using open fire in the room where oxygen pipelines pass;
  • check the density of oxygen pipelines, fittings and devices, as well as warm up using open fire;
  • leave unattended sections of oxygen pipelines, fittings, instruments disassembled for repair that are not disconnected by a metal plug and are not purged with air;
  • carry out repair work using gas welding on existing oxygen pipelines without first disconnecting them from the existing network and purging with nitrogen.

3.8. Manometers for measuring pressure must only be approved for operation on the specified networks and have a blue body for oxygen with the inscription "Oxygen", "Oil hazardous"

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. If an oxygen leak is detected, turn off the emergency section immediately and:

  • warn people in the building about the inadmissibility of using open fire, smoking, turning on and off electric lighting and electrical appliances.
  • upon arrival of the emergency brigade, report the situation in detail to the head of the brigade.
  • to eliminate the most urgent malfunctions with strict observance of the requirements of the labor protection instructions.

4.2. In the event of a fire during the repair of the oxygen pipeline, it is necessary to stop the repair work, notify the management, call the fire brigade and start extinguishing the fire with the available fire extinguishing equipment. (Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, asbestos felt mat, strong water jet)

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Report to the work manager about all malfunctions, malfunctions that occurred during work, and the measures taken to eliminate them.

5.2. Clean overalls and safety shoes from dust and dirt. By shaking, release the overalls from the possible presence of gas in its folds, especially in the sleeves, before that, open fire should not be used

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

carbon dioxide glass 18.01.2007

A group of chemists from the University of Florence (Italy) obtained a transparent glassy material from carbon dioxide by compressing "dry ice" between two diamond plungers under a pressure of 640 atmospheres at a temperature of 700 Kelvin.

Under such extreme conditions, CO2 molecules, which are characterized by double bonds of a carbon atom with each of the oxygen atoms, rearranged into molecules with single bonds, arranged randomly, as in ordinary glass. The resulting substance is about ten times harder than quartz, but softer than diamond. It is the hardest amorphous material known to science.

As soon as the pressure is removed, the extraordinary substance turns back into ordinary "dry ice" and then into gaseous carbon dioxide. But chemists suggest that if this "gas glass" is mixed with silicon dioxide at even higher temperatures, it will be possible to obtain an extremely hard glass-like substance that is stable under ordinary conditions. It will find application in technology, and in this form it will be convenient to store excess carbon dioxide, which is now emitted into the atmosphere and causing global warming.

Carbon and silicon are neighbors in the periodic table of the elements, but carbon dioxide under normal conditions is a gas, and silicon dioxide is either crystalline quartz or glass. It is assumed that high pressure changes the chemical properties of carbon towards silicon.
