Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements

1.1. To operate electric hoists, workers who have passed a medical commission, trained and received safety instructions, at least 18 years old, who have certificates for the right to service this lifting mechanism, who have Group I in electrical safety, are allowed.

1.2. The electric hoist must have a tag with designations: numbers, carrying capacity, terms of technical examination.

1.3. Removable lifting devices (slings) must have a tag indicating: date of manufacture, number and load capacity.

1.4. Each newly installed electric hoist at a new location must be inspected, tested at idle and under load.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Arrange work clothes and PPE.

2.2. Carry out an external inspection of the electric hoist.

2.3. Check the serviceability of the limit switches and the starting device.

2.4. Check the serviceability of the hook, clip and the suitability of removable load-handling devices.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Ensure that there are no people at the work site who are not related to the work being performed.

3.2. Before lifting the load, make sure that the weight of the load does not exceed the lifting capacity of the electric hoist and lifting devices.

3.3. When lifting a load of maximum weight, first raise it at least 0,5 m above the objects encountered on the way, it is not allowed to move the load above people.

3.4. It is forbidden to pull the load to the side during lifting, lowering and moving.

3.5. The place of work should be well lit.

3.6. During operation, check that the brakes are in good working order.

3.7. It is forbidden to lift the load in an unstable position in containers filled above the sides, move the load in places where the fall of the load can cause an explosion, fire or other dangerous consequences.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. In the event of an accident or an accident, the worker operating the electric hoist must:

  • immediately stop work on lifting and moving cargo;
  • provide first aid to the victim;
  • himself or through workers to call an ambulance;
  • report the incident to the responsible person.

5. Safety requirements after finishing work

5.1. Release the hoist hook from the load, raise it to the upper position, turn off the voltage.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Biodegradable plastic from cotton waste 21.06.2019

Scientists at Australia's Deakin University have found a way to use cotton waste to make biodegradable plastic.

When cotton is used to separate the cotton fibers from their seeds, a lot of fluff is produced as a waste product. Currently, most of the cotton fiber is simply burned or thrown into landfills. However, thanks to recent research outside of Australia, it may soon become a biodegradable plastic.

According to Dr. Maryam Naebe of Deakin University, about 29 million tons of cotton linters are produced every year, and about a third of that is simply thrown away.

They wanted to reduce this waste while offering cotton farmers an additional source of income and creating a "sustainable alternative to harmful synthetic plastics." This is what prompted them to develop a mechanism in which inexpensive environmentally friendly chemicals are used to dissolve the lint fibers, along with other cotton waste such as seeds and stalks. The resulting liquid organic polymer is then used to create a plastic film.

The new material biodegrades harmlessly once placed in the ground and can be used in cotton growing, for example for wrapping bales or packing seeds and fertilizers.
