OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Instructions on labor protection for a wood grinder engaged in the processing of shields on cylinder and wide-belt machines. Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Characteristics of dangerous and harmful production factors 1.2.1. Moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, blanks, materials. Sources of the factor: rotating sanding belt, moving and rotating parts of equipment, low-quality sanding belt; pulleys; cylinders. Effect of the factor: the possibility of contact with the grinding belt, the possibility of contact with moving and rotating parts of the equipment, with the working body of the machine; the possibility of breaking and falling off the sanding belt. 1.2.2. Increased dust and gas content in the air of the working area. Sources of the factor: the grinding process, non-working local suction. Action factor: the possibility of respiratory diseases. 1.2.3. Increased levels of static electricity. The source of the factor: the grinding process. Effect of the factor: a negative effect on the body. 1.2.4. Explosion and fire hazard. Sources of the factor: dust of explosive concentration and discharge of static electricity. Action factor: the possibility of injury in the event of an explosion, fire. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton semi-overalls; respirator; footwear is antistatic. During manual grinding, cotton gloves with a polymer coating, increased abrasion resistance. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. The tape must be fixed on the web cylinder without folds and protruding ends. The top overlapping edge of the tape must face the opposite direction of cylinder rotation. 2.2. Check the sanding belt of wide-belt sanders (there should be no torn and uneven edges), the strength of the bonding of the seam. The seam of the tape put on the drum should be placed along the tape. 2.3. Make sure that electrical equipment, grounding devices and devices that prevent the accumulation of static electricity charges are in good condition. 2.4. Monitor the serviceability of the working bodies that carry the grinding cloth (cylinders, rollers). 2.5. Make sure that the feed rollers are in good condition (no surface defects). 2.6. Check the serviceability of the clamping devices of cylinder grinding machines, which ensure a snug fit of the tape web to the cylinder over its entire surface. 2.7. Monitor the presence and serviceability of the guards of the non-working part of the belt, belt and gear drives. Check the blocking of the guards of the drive mechanisms with the starting device. 2.8. Make sure that the braking devices of local suctions are in good working order. 2.9. Check the serviceability of the starting devices by short-term switching on. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Sort the parts to be processed by thickness, select without pins, cracks, flakes. 3.2. If the belt breaks, stop the machine and do not make any corrections until the cylinders (rollers) come to a complete stop. 3.3. When the work of local suction stops, stop the machine and inform the master. 3.4. Regularly clean the pneumatic transport, avoiding the accumulation of dust in the pipelines. 3.5. Do not work in clothes made of synthetic fabrics. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
