Instructions for labor protection when servicing a jaw logger as a lifting device Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection General labor protection requirements are set out in the instructions "General requirements for labor protection for workers engaged in logging and forestry work". 2. Labor protection requirements before starting work 2.1. Before starting work, it is necessary to check the condition of fasteners, pipe connections, hoses, junction boxes, tractor attachments, slings and the operation of the sound signal. It is not allowed to work on a faulty log loader and without an audible signal. 2.2. Determine the mass of units and assemblies for carrying out lifting operations. Lifting parts and assemblies weighing more than 2,5 tons is prohibited. 2.3. Establish a procedure for the exchange of signals between the slinger and the machinist of the jaw logger. All signals are given by one worker, except for the "Stop" signal, which is mandatory for the driver, regardless of who gave it. 2.4. Check the availability of a set of slings. Slings must be suitable for their purpose in terms of the weight of the load being lifted and have a safety factor of at least 6. 2.5. Having received the task from the responsible employee, determine with the foreman-mechanic or the senior repair team the volume, the sequence of carrying out lifting operations, the places of access to the machine being repaired, and the places for storing units. 2.6. Check the compliance of the prepared slings with the requirements of GOST 25573, and the hooks with the requirements of GOST 8470 (group P). It is forbidden to work if there are cracks, hardenings, delaminations, hairlines and tears on the surface of the links of the load-handling devices. Welding or sealing these defects is not allowed. 2.7. The shaft (pipe) of the jaws of the timber loader must be equipped with two wooden half-couplings and a pull hook. Dimensions of wooden half couplings: length 30 - 35 cm, inner diameter 18 cm, outer diameter 38 - 40 cm. It is possible to use a larger number of wooden parts (bars) as a coupling. Half-couplings are installed in the middle of the shaft of the jaws of the gripper and, to prevent slipping, are fastened with clamps made of strapping wire with a diameter of 4 - 8 cm or with a tape. 2.8. When loading units, assemblies onto a vehicle, a floor should be made or an elevation should be used, so that the height of the lower part of the unit in the raised state is higher than the floor of the car body. 3. Labor protection requirements during work 3.1. The employee must perform only the work that is entrusted to him by his immediate supervisor. 3.2. The slinging of the removed machine units must be carried out in accordance with the scheme of their slinging. When tying, steel ropes should be superimposed on the main mass of the cargo without knots, twists, loops. Under the ribs of the load, it is necessary to place special wooden or other linings that protect the slings from damage. 3.3. Removing the units from the machines should be carried out only after they are completely freed from the places of attachment to the base and the slings. 3.4. The operator of the jaw logger equipped with a load-handling device, at the signal of the slinger, must move the machine in reverse to the removed unit of the machine being repaired. 3.5. It is forbidden for the slinger and other workers to be at a distance of less than 5 m from the load being lifted or lowered, between the load and the loader and in the path of its movement. 3.6. Before carrying out lifting operations, the slinger must make sure that the load is securely slinged, hooked and not held by anything, and that there are no loose parts and tools on the load. 3.7. The detachment and installation of the machine with a log loader must be carried out slowly. The movement of the loader with a load must be carried out only in first gear. It is not allowed to swing the load, carry the load over the cab, drop the load, hit the load against the loader racks or the sides of the vehicle. 3.8. It is forbidden to adjust the hanging load by hand. For this purpose it is necessary to use hooks, ropes, a special hook. 3.9. Slinging of loads for which slinging schemes have not been developed should be carried out under the guidance of an employee responsible for the safe performance of work on moving loads with a jaw logger. 4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations 4.1. If it is necessary to eliminate the malfunction or the danger of the load falling, the driver must take measures to lower the boom and load to the ground or other surface, turn off the engine. 4.2. Use a fire extinguisher if a fire occurs. 4.3. During a thunderstorm, work is prohibited. It is necessary to move away from the jaw loader at a distance of 15 - 20 meters. 4.4. The victim or eyewitness must notify the foreman or the appropriate work manager of each accident. 4.5. Each worker must be able to provide first aid. Assistance must be provided immediately at the scene of the incident. The first step is to eliminate the source of injury (turn off the engine, stop the mechanism, etc.). The provision of assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens the health or life of a person: in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, you should first bandage the wound, and then apply a splint; for burns, apply a dry bandage; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues. If spinal injuries are suspected, the victim can only be transported in the supine position on a rigid base. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work 5.1. Upon completion of work, you should:
