Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements.

Persons of any gender at least 18 years of age who have passed a medical examination, as well as an introductory briefing on labor protection, primary briefing at the workplace, who have studied this manual and received permission to work independently, are allowed to work on caring for horses.

The employee is obliged:

comply with the internal labor regulations of the organization;
know and comply with the requirements of labor protection established by this instruction;
follow the rules of personal hygiene;
comply with fire safety requirements, know the procedure in case of fire, be able to use primary fire extinguishing means;
be careful when walking on stairs, while on the territory of the organization;
know the methods of first aid in case of accidents (in case of electric shock, in case of an animal bite);
Report any accident or illness to your immediate supervisor.

Smoking is allowed only in designated smoking areas.

Not allowed:

perform work while in a state of alcoholic intoxication or in a state caused by the use of narcotic, psychotropic or toxic drugs, as well as drink alcoholic beverages and use narcotic, psychotropic or toxic drugs at the workplace and during working hours;
work without overalls and PPE.

During work, the following hazardous and harmful production factors may adversely affect the employee:

moving machines and mechanisms, transported goods;
increased voltage in the electrical circuit, the closure of which can occur through the human body;
increased or decreased air temperature of the working area;
insufficient illumination of the working area.

According to industry standards for the free issue of overalls and personal protective equipment (PPE), an employee is provided with:

cotton suit;
tarpaulin boots;
cotton cotton jacket.

The employee is responsible for violation of the requirements of this instruction in the manner prescribed by the Internal Labor Regulations of the organization and the current legislation.

Safety requirements before starting work.

Check the completeness and serviceability of overalls, safety shoes and safety devices, put them on and make sure that the protection is reliable and that freedom of movement is possible at work.

Check the availability and serviceability of equipment, harness, protective devices for animals, dress them and adjust them in place and size.

Rolling stock (front and rear) must be equipped with reflective signals.

The worker must be warned about obstinate and nervous horses, it is necessary to trust their service to the most qualified workers.

Before leaving for work, the employee is obliged to check the serviceability of the rolling stock, harness, the availability and quality of auxiliary equipment, horseshoes. Particular attention should be paid to the fastening of the wheels and the cotter pin. Riding a horse in a harness with a faulty harness, without a harness and the necessary tools is not allowed. Working horses are assigned personally to the worker.

3. Safety requirements during work

Horses are kept in a specially equipped room (stable), with a partition of stalls and other necessary rooms equipped with fire fighting equipment. The premises should have spacious walkways that allow convenient, safe service for horses.

For the withdrawal of stallions and obstinate horses, special bridles and strong hatching leits with a length of at least 2 m should be used; two grooms take the horse out on the leits. When taking out for mating, the length of the leitz is at least 5 m; during mating, a mating harness is put on the mare;

When cleaning, the horse is firmly tied with a cord to the hitching post or a ring in the wall, and the obstinate - to the junctions.

The clearing of hooves and shoeing of horses is entrusted to a blacksmith with special training, this work is done on benches and interchanges in the presence of a fixed groom. The presence of strangers is prohibited. The blacksmith is provided with a canvas apron and gloves, knives and hoof ticks are stored in a personal box.

It is necessary to bathe horses in previously surveyed places, with a calm current, a flat bottom, without deep holes and whirlpools, workers must be able to swim well.

If it is necessary to knock down a horse for processing, choose a flat place free from foreign objects, at least four people participate in the felling under the supervision of a wind worker or livestock specialist, people should be on the side of the horse’s back when processing the horse. Zootechnical and veterinary treatment of adult horses must be done in a split.

To feed restless horses, special feeders are equipped with feed distribution from the side of the passage, without entering the stall.

For grazing horses at night, as well as in the event of a snowstorm, at least two herdsmen are appointed. Horses for grazing are placed in a circle or in a straight line at a distance of 0,5 km and no closer than 0,5 km from the roads.

Horse-drawn transport, if possible, should be individual for each horse. It is allowed to harness horses only to serviceable wagons and agricultural implements, as well as a seat located at a safe distance from the horse's hind leg.

Harnessed horses must not be left unattended, even during short stops.

For a trip in places of heavy traffic, only calm horses are allocated. Riding shy horses without eyecups is not allowed, horses must have all their legs shod.

When moving horse-drawn vehicles on the plain, a gap of 2 m must be observed (on ice - 5 m), on the descent - for the entire length, on steep descents - with braking, in these cases people must leave the cart.

The movement of horse-drawn transport along rivers and lakes is prohibited when the ice thickness is less than 15 cm, as well as in spring with the appearance of cracks, and also closer than 10 m from the polynya.

Heavy materials, timber and cargo with large dimensions are tied with a cable, chain or rope, secured with racks or wedges. On slopes, railway crossings and dangerous places, it is not allowed to leave the horse without control.

It is prohibited to arrange parking, as well as loading the timber and performing other types of work closer than 50 m from the felling of the timber.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

Stop work in case of wind speed over 11 m/s, thick fog, heavy snowfall (visibility less than 50 m), take cover in a safe place until the situation improves.

During a thunderstorm, stop moving, take a safe place in a clearing, a plot of deciduous young growth, between trees growing at a distance of 20 m from each other, in a hilly area closer to the middle of the slope, if possible, sit on an insulating material (dry deadwood, moss, birch bark), remove metal objects and mechanisms from yourself and horses, keep horses on a leash.

It is forbidden during a thunderstorm: to be in motion, on top of a mountain, hill, on the edge of a forest; stop at streams, rivers, lakes; hide under separate trees, stones, lean against them; be located near and under power lines, other towers and signs, closer than 10 m from machines and mechanisms.

In case of fire, take measures to extinguish it on your own, with the available fire extinguishing equipment, inform the head. If it is impossible to extinguish the fire, take measures for the personal safety and safety of the horses and leave the place of ignition.

Do the same in case of any other danger (environmental, radiation, chemical hazard, natural disaster) that threatens people's lives.

In the event of an accident, provide the victim with first aid (self-help), if necessary, take measures to deliver him to a medical institution, if possible, preserve the situation of the incident, inform the administration about the case.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

Clean, put in order tools, equipment, equipment, transport, store them in designated places. Unload and unbridle the horses, place them to rest

Remove uniforms, harness from the horse, clean and free from dust, put in storage.

Make sure that there is no encephalitis tick, if present, remove it, the same applies to horses.

Upon completion of all work, remove overalls and safety shoes, place them in a storage place, wash hands and face with warm water and soap, and if possible, take a shower.

Report all comments on the work to the foreman (official) and enter them in the journal of administrative and public control on labor protection.

Remaining on the territory of the organization after the end of work without the knowledge of the head is not allowed.
