In order to prevent the impact of fire hazards on workers in the event of a fire, the movement of personnel from the danger zone (premises, buildings, territories) must be immediately organized and, if this does not contradict the safety of workers, the removal of material assets. The number of exits from each floor from the premises and the building during the design is taken according to the standards. The length of evacuation routes is provided for during design, depending on the category for explosion and fire hazard and the degree of fire resistance of the building according to building codes and rules and / or fire safety standards.

The head of a facility with a mass stay of people (50 people or more), in addition to a schematic plan for evacuating people in case of fire, is obliged to develop instructions that determine the actions of personnel to ensure safe and quick evacuation, according to which, at least once every six months, practical training should be held for all those involved in evacuation of workers.

For objects with people staying at night, the instructions should provide for two options for actions: during the day and at night.

Escape routes must be free for the movement of people.

Issues related to the safe evacuation of people in case of fire are brought to their attention during introductory and primary fire safety briefings at the workplace.
