The division of the real causes of injuries into technical, organizational and personal allows us to identify main reasons accident and take the necessary corrective action.

To clarify the whole complex of causes, aanalysis of industrial injuries.

The most accurate and comprehensive idea of the causes of accidents at work is given by the monographic method of analysis. It consists in a comprehensive study of all factors that can lead to an accident (injury at work) individually or in combination.

A comprehensive analysis of the causes of industrial injuries consists in determining the main and indirect causes and circumstances of the accident and should include next steps:

  • identification of all causes of the accident that led to the injury;
  • establishing the relationship of those causes that directly led to the accident;
  • determination of the main cause of the accident that caused injury to the victim.

First, explore possible technical reasons:

  • design flaws and malfunctions of machines, mechanisms, equipment, fixtures and tools;
  • imperfection of technological processes.

It is also necessary to take into account the unsatisfactory technical condition of buildings, structures and their elements - roofs, walls, ceilings, floors, stairwells, passages and driveways; supports of workings of rocks.

Then consider organizational reasons:

  • violation of technological processes;
  • lack of necessary technical documentation;
  • violation by operating technological processes provided for by technological maps, rules and norms for labor protection;
  • non-compliance with the safety requirements for technological processes established by regulatory documents; the use of materials, fixtures and tools not provided for by technological documents;
  • violation of the rules of safe traffic by drivers of all types of transport and pedestrians (working);
  • unsatisfactory organization of work;
  • violation of the rules and norms of safe organization of work;
  • non-use or use of faulty personal protective equipment, inconsistency or lack of safety shoes, overalls and other personal protective equipment.

Organizational reasons also include shortcomings in training and instructing workers in safe labor practices, lack of or insufficient instruction.

And finally consider personal reasons:

  • negligence or inattention (due to external factors, fatigue, mental or emotional experiences);
  • wrong actions.

Personal reasons should also include the lack of internal motivation of the employee to comply with labor protection requirements, as well as the low qualification of the employee.

The monographic method of analysis is very time-consuming (and therefore expensive), because requires the involvement of qualified specialists for the analysis and a detailed consideration of all the circumstances, which takes quite a lot of time. However, such a detailed analysis is more applicable to a single (most often investigated) accident, especially for new jobs, new types of hazards, unexpected equipment failure, etc.

Having a lot of advantages, it has one drawback - the RANDOMITY of a combination of certain events affects it too much. Such a combination may never be repeated, because it is unique.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New microcontrollers with ARM7 core 26.02.2007

NXP announced the new LPC2478 microcontroller, which is the only ARM7 microcontroller in production with onboard flash memory and integrated LCD support. The non-flash version is designated LPC2470.

A feature of the new microcontrollers is the presence of two high-speed ARM core buses (AHB), which ensure the parallel operation of a large set of peripheral devices with high bandwidth. These include an LCD interface, a 10/100 Ethernet bus, an OTG device/USB host bus, and two CAN interfaces.

Significantly reducing cost, floor space and power consumption, NXP's new microcontrollers are ideal for industrial, consumer, retail and medical applications that use LCD panels and require a LAN or Internet connection.
