Occupational Safety and Health / Providing first aid to the injured

In the event of an accident, it is necessary not only to immediately provide first aid to the victim, but quickly and correctly deliver him to the nearest hospital. Violation of the rules for carrying and transporting the victim can cause irreparable harm to him.

When lifting, carrying and transporting the victim, make sure that he is in a comfortable position and do not shake him. When carried on hands without a stretcher, caregivers should keep pace, in small steps, with slightly bent knees.

Lifting and putting the victim on a stretcher must be coordinated, preferably on command. You need to take the victim from the healthy side, while assisting should stand on the same knee and put their hands under the head, back, legs and buttocks of the victim so that the fingers show on the other side of his body. We must try not to transfer the victim to the stretcher, but, without getting up from his knees, slightly lift him off the ground so that someone puts the stretcher under him. This is especially important in fractures, in which case it is necessary that someone support the fracture site.

The victims are transported in the supine position with head wounds, with injuries of the skull and brain, spine and spinal cord, with abdominal trauma, fractures of the pelvic bones and lower extremities. The head of the victim should be turned to one side so that vomit and blood do not enter the respiratory tract.

To carry a victim with a damaged spine, it is necessary to put a wide board on the stretcher cloth, and clothes on top of it; the victim should lie on his back. In the absence of a board, the victim must be placed on a stretcher, stomach down.

In case of a fracture of the lower jaw, if the victim is suffocating, you need to put him on his stomach face down.

In case of trauma to the abdomen or fractures of the pelvic bones, the victim should be laid on his back in the "frog" position.

The victim with a chest injury must be carried in a semi-sitting position, putting clothes under his back.

On a flat place, the victim must be carried feet first. When going uphill or stairs, or if the casualty is unconscious, they should be carried head first. In order not to give the stretcher an inclined position, the attendants who are below should raise the stretcher.

To prevent jolts and not rock the stretcher, caregivers should walk out of step, with short steps.

While being carried on a stretcher, one should observe the victim, the condition of the applied bandages and splints. When carrying for a long time, it is necessary to change the position of the victim, correct his headboard, lined clothes, quench his thirst (but not with an injury to the abdomen), protect him from bad weather and cold.

Removing the victim from the stretcher, you should do the same as when laying him on them. When carrying a stretcher with an injured person over long distances, those providing assistance should carry them on straps tied to the handles of the stretcher, throwing the straps over the neck.

When transporting a seriously injured person, it is better to put him (without shifting) in a wagon or car on the same stretcher, laying hay and grass under them. Carry the victim carefully, avoiding shaking.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

High-voltage intelligent power modules with increased current carrying capacity 13.05.2016

Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded its range of High Voltage Intelligent Power Modules (HV-IPD) with the introduction of a 600V 5A module for PWM control of brushless DC motors (BLDC). The TPD4207F module simplifies the implementation of BLDC devices, from home appliances to industrial pumps and fans.

The TPD4207F module contains controller and driver circuits, high-voltage three-phase output bridge MOSFETs, clamping diodes, and a complete set of protection functions. To implement full control of the BLDT, you simply need to apply signals from the central microcontroller or motor controller IC to the inputs of the TPD4207F module.

The multi-chip module contains Toshiba's DTMOS IV Superjunction high-voltage MOSFETs and driver ICs. The housing is designed to separate all small signal leads and power leads. Built-in features include overcurrent and undervoltage protection, as well as thermal shutdown.

The TPD4207F is available in a compact SOP-30 package measuring just 20,0mm x 11,0mm x 2,0mm. Typical on-resistance is only 0,44 ohms. The new high-voltage intelligent power module provides low-noise sinusoidal motor control and allows you to set the dead time from a minimum value of 1,0 µs.
