I. General Provisions

  5. Must know:
  • technical characteristics, design features, purpose and operating modes of drilling, oil and gas field equipment, rules for its technical operation;
  • organization and technology of repair work, rules for drawing up technical documentation for repairs;
  • fundamentals of drilling technology for oil and gas wells;
  • requirements for labor organization during operation, repair, modernization of drilling, oil and gas field equipment;
  • economics, organization of production, labor and management: fundamentals of labor legislation; rules and regulations of labor protection, industrial sanitation and fire protection.
  1. Qualification requirements:
  • Equipment repair mechanic of category I: secondary vocational education in the relevant field of training (specialist, bachelor or junior specialist) and advanced training for a specialist - work experience as an equipment repair mechanic of category II - at least 1 year, for a bachelor or junior specialist - at least 2 years.
  • Equipment repair mechanic of category II: secondary vocational education in the relevant field of training (specialist, bachelor or junior specialist) and advanced training for a specialist - without requirements for work experience; for a bachelor's or junior specialist - work experience as a mechanic in equipment repair - at least 2 years.
  • Equipment repair mechanic: complete secondary vocational education in the relevant field of training (specialist, bachelor or junior specialist) with no work experience requirements.

II. Official duties

Equipment repair mechanic:

  1. Ensures the operation and reliable operation of drilling, oil and gas field equipment, carries out timely and high-quality preventive inspections and repairs of drilling, oil and gas field equipment.
  2. Monitors compliance with the rules of technical operation and compliance with the requirements of safety rules for drilling, oil and gas field equipment and organizes their safe operation.
  3. Studies the operating conditions of equipment, individual parts and assemblies in order to identify the causes of their premature wear.
  4. Takes measures to timely replace worn-out and obsolete equipment.
  5. Participates in the testing of new models of drilling and oil and gas production equipment.
  6. Participates in monitoring the testing, technical inspection and audit of lifting mechanisms, load-handling devices, apparatus and vessels operating under pressure, electric and gas welding equipment, acetylene, oxygen and compressor units as required by the rules.
  7. Participates in monitoring the flaw detection of equipment, tools and devices.
  8. Quality control of equipment installation.
  9. Organizes control over the completeness of new installations.
  10. Participates in the investigation of the causes of accidents of drilling, oil and gas field equipment and in the development of means to prevent them.
  11. Keeps a primary account of the operation of equipment, the consumption of spare parts and materials.
  12. Provides reporting on the availability and technical condition of equipment.
  13. Provides control over the supply of spare parts, materials and the availability of passports for equipment to teams.
  14. Provides control over compliance with fuel and lubricant consumption standards.
  15. Participates in the development of means for saving fuel and energy resources.
  16. Maintains established reports.

III. Rights

The equipment repair mechanic has the right to:

  1. Get acquainted with the draft decisions of the management of the enterprise regarding its activities.
  2. Participate in the discussion of issues related to the performance of his duties.
  3. Make suggestions for improving the work related to the provisions of this instruction.
  4. Within the limits of his competence, inform his immediate supervisor about all those identified in the course of his activities, and make proposals for their elimination.
  5. Require the management of the enterprise to assist in the performance of their duties.

IV. A responsibility

The equipment repair mechanic is responsible

  1. For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties, as well as for non-use or directly to their rights provided for by this Job Description - to the extent determined by the current legislation of Ukraine.
  2. For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits determined by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
  3. For causing material damage - within the limits determined by the current labor legislation on labor of Ukraine.

Samsung processors with neural network 31.08.2016

Samsung has revealed some details about the structure of the cores of its own design Mongoose, which are used in the Exynos 8890 Octa processors of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge flagships. Mongoose kernels use a neural network to predict processor instructions.

In total, the Exynos 8890 Octa has eight cores. Four of them are Cortex-A53, they operate at up to 1,6 GHz, the other four are Mongoose, which have a maximum clock speed of 2,3 GHz.

In modern processors with a pipelined architecture, a branch predictor is used. This is a special block that predicts the next commands that will come to the processor from the application. Instruction prediction helps to load the pipeline and reduce idle time, that is, in general, increase the efficiency of the processor.

In Mongoose kernels, the transition predictor is based on a neural network. Brad Burgess, chief architect of Exynos processors, said that the use of a neural network allowed the company to obtain a fairly high forecasting accuracy.

Mongoose cannot be used in servers as they do not support L2 cache and vectorization.
