I. General Provisions

A person with a secondary medical education is appointed to the position of a ward nurse.
Appointed and dismissed by the chief physician of the hospital on the proposal of the head of the department in accordance with applicable law.
Reports directly to the Head Nurse of the Department.
In his work, he is guided by the orders of higher officials.

II. Official duties

Ward Nurse Department:

Carries out care and observation of patients based on the principles of medical deontology.
Timely and accurately fulfills the appointment of the attending physician; in case of non-fulfillment of prescriptions, regardless of the reason, immediately report this to the attending physician.
Organizes timely examination of patients in diagnostic rooms, consulting doctors and in the laboratory.
Monitors the patient's condition, physiological functions, sleep. Report any changes to the attending physician.
Immediately inform the attending physician, and in his absence, the head of the department or the doctor on duty about a sudden deterioration in the patient's condition.
Participates in the rounds of doctors in the wards assigned to her, reports on the condition of patients, writes down the prescribed treatment, monitors the implementation of appointments.
Provides sanitary and hygienic care for the physically weakened and seriously ill (washes, feeds, gives drink, rinses the mouth, eyes, ears, etc., as needed).
Accepts and places patients in the ward, checks the quality of sanitization of newly admitted patients.
Checks transfers of patients to avoid ingestion of contraindicated food and drink.
Isolates patients in an agonal state, is present at death, calls a doctor to ascertain death, prepares the corpses of the dead for transfer to the morgue.
Hands over duty in the wards at the bedside of patients. Taking duty, she inspects the premises assigned to her, the state of electric lighting, the presence of hard and soft inventory, medical equipment and tools, and medicines. Signs for the reception of duty in the diary of the department.
Supervises the implementation by patients and relatives of the regimen of the day of separation. On cases of violation of the regimen, the nurse reports to the senior nurse.
Supervises the work of junior medical personnel and monitors their compliance with the internal labor regulations.
Once a week, the patient is weighed, noting the weight of the patient in the medical history. For all admitted patients, the body temperature is measured 2 times a day, the readings are recorded in the temperature sheet.
If signs of an infectious disease are found in a patient, immediately inform the attending physician about this, by his order, isolate the patient and immediately perform current disinfection.
As prescribed by the doctor, he counts the pulse, respiration, measures the daily amount of urine, sputum, etc., records these data in the medical history.
She monitors the sanitary maintenance of the wards assigned to her, as well as the personal hygiene of patients (skin care, mouth care, cutting hair and nails), timely taking hygienic baths, changing underwear and bed linen.
Takes care of the timely supply of patients with everything necessary for treatment and care.
In case of changes in the condition of patients requiring urgent measures, informs the doctor of the department about this, and in the absence of doctors immediately calls the doctor on duty, provides emergency first aid.
Ensures that patients receive food according to the prescribed diet.
Ensures that medications given to patients are taken in her presence.
She improves her professional qualifications by attending scientific and practical conferences for paramedical personnel and participating in the competition for the title of “Best in Profession”.
Maintains required accounting records.
In the absence of a senior nurse, she accompanies the doctors of the department, the doctor on duty, and representatives of the administration during the rounds. Enters in the diary of the department all the comments and orders made.

III. Rights

The ward nurse has the right to:

In the absence of a doctor, provide emergency first aid to patients in the department;
Improve their professional qualifications in special courses in the prescribed manner;
Give orders to the nurse and monitor their implementation;
Receive the information necessary to carry out their duties.

IV. A responsibility

The ward nurse is responsible for:

For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits determined by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits determined by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
For causing material damage - within the limits determined by the current labor and civil legislation of Ukraine.
