Over the centuries human habitat slowly changed its appearance, and therefore the types and levels of negative impacts on human health on its part changed little. Recently, since the XNUMXth century, there has been a constant increase in pollution of the biosphere as a result of increased consumption and concentration of energy resources; intensive development of industrial and agricultural production, etc., which leads to partial, and in some cases complete regional degradation, as well as to a deterioration in the health of the entire population, since a person and his environment (natural, industrial, urban, domestic and etc.) in the process of life constantly interact with each other. They only then are in harmonious interaction and develop in given conditions, when the flows of energy, matter and information are in redistributions that are favorably perceived by man and the environment.

Any excess of the usual levels of ducts is accompanied by negative impacts on humans and the environment. Changes in the value of any flow from the minimum significant to the maximum possible allow you to go through a series characteristic states of interaction in the system "man - environment":

1) comfortable, or optimal, when the flows correspond to the optimal conditions for interaction: they create optimal conditions for activity and rest, prerequisites for the emergence of the highest working capacity and, as a result, productive activity; guarantee the preservation of human health and the integrity of the components of the environment;

2) permissible, when the flows, affecting a person and the external environment, do not have a negative impact on health, but lead to discomfort, reducing the efficiency of human activity. Compliance with the conditions of permissible interaction guarantees the impossibility of the emergence and development of irreversible processes in humans and in the external environment;

3) dangerous, when the flows exceed the permissible levels and have a negative impact on human health, causing diseases during prolonged exposure, leading to degradation of the natural environment;

4) extremely dangerous, when high-level flows in a short period of time can cause injury, lead a person to death, cause destruction in the environment.

Thus, of the four characteristic states of human interaction with the environment, only the first two (comfortable and acceptable) correspond to the positive conditions of everyday life, and the other two (dangerous and extremely dangerous) are unacceptable for the processes of normal human life, preservation and development of the external environment.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Collective intelligence in insects 29.07.2022

Scientists from Rockefeller University have found that ant colonies behave in the same way as neural networks during decision making. This was done using a new method of analysis, writes sciencedaily.com.

Two researchers, Daniel Kronauer and Asaf Gal, set up an experimental setup to analyze decision making in ant colonies. They tested how the insects would behave in an extreme temperature increase for them.

When each individual ant in the group feels hot underneath, it holds on as usual until the entire colony suddenly changes course. "They run out as one," the scientists say. "It's almost as if they had a large collective mind."

The data obtained during the experiment indicate that the ants combine sensory information with the parameters of their entire group. So they make one decision at all. This process is similar to neural computing, leading to decision making in the same way.

"We first looked at ant colonies as a cognitive-like system," says Kronauer. "This is one of the first steps to understanding how insect communities participate in collective decisions."
