To speed up the construction of the track car model in the circle of the Taldy-Kurgan regional station of young technicians, a set of devices was created:

  • die and punch for stamping cases;
  • mold for melting disks and current collectors;
  • matrices for cooking front and rear tires;
  • vulcanizer.

The matrix and the punch for stamping the hulls made of epoxy putty are covered with a separating layer. From calcined fiberglass (0,1-0,2 mm thick), we cut out three or four squares that fit the punch with a small margin. Then we smear these squares with epoxy resin and apply them alternately on the punch, smoothing out the wrinkles. In places where the folds cannot be removed, we cut the fabric and press one layer to another. The punch with layers of fiberglass is placed in a matrix and compressed under a press or in a vice.

After the complete curing of the epoxy resin (10-14 hours), the molds are heated to 70-80 °, and the punch, together with the molded body, is removed from the matrix. Using a knife, remove excess fiberglass and remove the body from the punch. To obtain rigidity, the body is heated in an oven at 110-120 °.

For two classes in a circle, you can make a case for one model. When working with epoxy resin, safety precautions must be observed: work with rubber gloves, ventilation is required.

The mold for melting discs is machined on a lathe from steel, and the discs themselves are made of plastic (fragments of cases from receivers, broken toys, etc.). The mold is heated to the melting temperature of the plastic, the pieces of which are placed through the upper hole. After the plastic is completely softened, a punch is inserted into the upper hole, and the mold is compressed to. stop in a vice. When the mold has cooled down, disassemble it. The disk for the wheel is ready.

Current collectors are also made of plastic, and the form is made of duralumin on a milling machine. We put pieces of plastic in a heated form and, after softening, we squeeze the form in a vice until it cools.

For cooking tires on a lathe, collapsible molds are machined. Sequence of operations! in both halves of the form we place raw rubber with a small margin. Then we compress the form in a vice and put it in the vulcanizing apparatus under the press. After warming up to 110 °, we press the disks to failure and cook for 25-30 minutes at 150 °.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

eHighway Electric Autobahn 10.05.2019

Testing of Germany's first stretch of autobahn for electrified overhead trucks has begun near Frankfurt. The German Ministry for the Environment hopes that the project will contribute to climate-neutral transport.

Hybrid diesel-electric trucks will move in the general stream on a five-kilometer stretch with four lanes. Tests, which will continue until 2022, were preceded by tests off the autobahn. The project involves Siemens, which is responsible for its technical part, and researchers from the Darmstadt University of Technology, who will compile and analyze the economic and environmental data collected during the three-year test.

The test trucks are equipped with batteries and pantographs to draw power from two cables (positive and negative electrodes) suspended from several hundred poles.

By mid-2020, five of these trucks will pass the test site every day, which passes an average of 135 vehicles in just a day, one in ten of which is a heavy truck. It is assumed that the DC cables, which are supplied with a voltage of 000 V, will automatically turn off when they break, and in winter their performance will be ensured by an anti-icing system. By braking, hybrids will be able to return energy to the grid.

According to a study by the Federal Transport Ministry, up to 80% of freight transport in Germany could eventually be electrified.
