TRIUM-MARS

The phone is small, fits comfortably in the hand, the thumb during a call can be kept on the "hangup" button (hangup). Phone dimensions - 115 x 44 x 29 mm, weight - 115 g with battery. The body color is dark blue (almost black). The SIM card is securely attached under the battery.

Vibrating alert is powerful enough; it can be set instead of a regular call, together with or before it (5 rings - vibra, then vibra + melody). There is a "silence" mode, in which only a light indication (backlight and top light) signals an incoming call. I was pleased with the clarity of the image and the backlight of the screen. The buttons are soft, conveniently located - it's hard to miss. The only difficulty is that pressing the swing buttons in a hurry, you can make a mistake with a half, although, in fact, you can answer the call with any button. The keyboard is locked. There is a connector for an external antenna (usually closed with a rubber plug).

When you turn it on, off and in standby mode (!) Animated screensavers appear on the display. For the standby mode and the menu, there are three rather pleasant schemes with "full-screen" graphics: trium (butterfly), manga (flower) and urban (city). :) Menu navigation is carried out using the central cursor button, which is very convenient.

The reception quality is quite good; the speaker is clear, there is a speakerphone function, which is especially relevant in places with high noise levels.

A phone book with 100 positions would be more correct to call an address book: last name - first name - icon! - home phone - work phone - mobile phone - comment. In total, 254 numbers can be stored in the phone's memory and 254 in the SIM card. If the phone from which the call originated is identified, the name of the caller is displayed on the screen. You can set different melodies for a regular call, a call from a number in the phone's memory, and a call from a number in the SIM card. SMS reception is accompanied by a fixed sound signal, which can be turned off if desired.

Your phone has 20 default ringtones. The instructions say that "with the help of special programs you can edit melodies", but I don't know what these programs are and where to find them ...

There are also 9 speed dial numbers, search in the address book by initials, adjustable call / conversation volume (7 levels), "dynamic increase in the volume of the call" (ramping ring), auto answer, auto redial, answer with any button, the ability to conduct 2 conversations simultaneously (from one of them is in standby mode).

Other Functions

SMS. Up to 10 SMS are stored in memory. In the preview mode, you can see the name (number) of the sender, the date and time of receipt, the first 2 lines of text. When a message is received, the "SMS" programmable button is replaced by "Read", allowing the text of the message to be read at the touch of a button. In view mode, 5 lines are placed on the screen, which are automatically scrolled (which sometimes gets in the way). There is T9 - an indispensable thing when compiling texts in English. The phone remembers 10 message templates of 50 characters each. Unfortunately, there is no Russian support in SMS or WAP.

WAP browser 1.1. Of the useful features, one can note the ability to disconnect from the network while reading a long page (automatic connection upon any click on the link, except back) and a fairly good cache (remembers pages between calls). WAP settings are completely identical to those available in Siemens devices (C35, S35).

Two programmable buttons can be configured for almost any menu item. Voice dialing, voice recorder, calculator are missing. There are functions such as clock, alarm clock, currency converter, address book (10 entries x 20 characters), reset settings, work with PIN (change PIN, PIN2, disable PIN).

The phone records the time and duration of the last 10 outgoing and incoming calls, there is a timer for WAP connections. You can view a list of the last 10 missed calls with the time and name of the caller (or number if it was identified and not found in the phone book)

There are only two games: Pusher (move blocks, nostalgia!) and Reshape (there are no analogues in the computer world :). Both on logic, not on sleight of hand.

Of the exotic functions, it is worth noting SMS-broadcast (sending SMS to 10 numbers), work with two lines.

Kit & Accessories

The standard kit includes a phone and a travel-charger (a regular charger). The battery with a capacity of 800 mAh (NiMH) cannot be called small, but the phone is quite gluttonous: in 2 hours metro mode + 5-10 minutes. The battery lasts for 3-4 days of calls per day. A full charge lasts 1.5 - 2 hours. Games put the battery down very quickly: about a third in half an hour (perhaps it's all about the backlight - you can turn it off).

Unusual rubber cover ("Second skin") without fasteners on the belt completely transforms the strict design of the device.

There are interchangeable faceplates. You can also purchase "hands-free" (earphone with microphone), hands-free with radio, original desktop charger, car charger and car "hands-free" with charger.

User experience

After six months of operation and four months of communication with other cell phone owners, I came to the following conclusions. Trium Mars catches and holds the network well (no worse than Siemens S35). According to rumors, a program for Sagem 922 is suitable for weaning from SIM-Lock, which can be found on the Web and which does not require a Data Link cable (personally, it did not work for me). Whether this phone supports GRPS remains an open question. A clear disadvantage of the device is its spontaneous shutdown (somewhere a couple of times a month). Perhaps these are flaws in the firmware, perhaps something else - I could not find an explanation. With accessories in Moscow, it is still bad: at the moment there are only cases. In my phone, after weaning from SIM-Lock, WAP disappeared - it is advisable to check this when buying. I did not find instructions in Russian, as well as any official service center.

In general, I was pleased with the Trium Mars. Hands-free mode and a powerful vibrating alert make it indispensable in high noise levels, and in combination with a large clear display, durability, a wide range of functions, and an excellent address book.

Australian researchers at Swinburne University of Technology have developed a process to produce iron on Mars. They propose using concentrated sunlight as an energy source, and extracting iron from regolith using carbothermal reduction.

In this case, the alloy will contain a small amount of impurities of carbon, silicon, phosphorus and chromium.

The resulting material can be used for the independent production of various machines and devices for a colony on Mars. The technology is based solely on local materials and does not require the delivery of goods from Earth.
