There are various RCDs in terms of technical design. Below is an approximate classification of RCDs.

1. By appointment

  • RCD without built-in overcurrent protection;
  • RCD with built-in overcurrent protection.

RCDs with built-in overcurrent protection are divided into groups according to the instantaneous trip characteristic:

  • type B
  • type C
  • type D

2. According to the condition of the dependence of performance on voltage:

  • RCDs that are functionally independent of voltage;
  • RCD functionally dependent on voltage.

3. According to the position of the power contacts and the preservation of protective functions in the absence of voltage:

  • RCDs that automatically open power contacts when the supply voltage fails and close them when the voltage is restored;
  • RCDs that automatically open power contacts when the supply voltage fails and do not close them when the voltage is restored;
  • RCDs that do not open power contacts when the supply voltage fails, but retain their protective functions, i.e. the ability to open the power circuit in the event of a differential current;
  • RCDs that do not open power contacts when the supply voltage fails and lose their protective functions, i.e. incapable of tripping when a residual current occurs.

4. According to the installation method:

  • RCD for stationary installation with fixed wiring;
  • RCDs are mobile (portable type) and for cord connection.

5. By the number of poles and current circuits:

  • bipolar with two protected poles;
  • four-pole with four protected poles.

6. According to the operating conditions in the presence of a constant component of the differential current:

  • RCDs of the AC type, responding to a sinusoidal alternating differential current, slowly increasing or occurring abruptly;
  • Type A RCDs that respond both to sinusoidal alternating differential current and to pulsating direct (rectified) differential current, slowly increasing or occurring abruptly;
  • Type B RCDs responding to differential currents - sinusoidal alternating, pulsating direct, pulsing direct with a superimposed smoothed ripple of direct current with a value of 0,0006 A, slowly increasing or occurring abruptly.

7. By the presence of time delay:

  • RCD without time delay - type of general application;
  • RCD with time delay - type S and type G (selective).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Gold from trash 30.06.2020

Scientists from the Korea Advanced Institute of Technology have developed a polymer that allows the extraction of rare and precious metals from chips and circuit boards of electronic devices for their reuse. The new organic compound is called porphyrin and is a substance with many tiny pores that are capable of trapping atoms of rare and precious metals.

In accordance with the technology, electronic waste is first dissolved in acid, after which a new polymer is added to the resulting solution.

During the experiments, it turned out that gold turned out to be the most susceptible to the polymer: in 30 minutes, using this method, up to 94% of this metal in solution can be returned. This is 10 times more than in the case of other metals, in particular, platinum.

In this case, the polymer can be used repeatedly, even after it has already collected gold in a previous reaction with acid.

According to the developers, one gram of the new substance costs $5, while the cost of gold extracted with it reaches $64. Moreover, as the cost of gold mining is reused, it will decrease.
