Siemens C45

In addition to the S45 and ME45 models, the new line of phones from the well-known German manufacturer also includes a mid-range phone - Siemens C45, which replaced the C35i. According to its characteristics, the device turned out to be very balanced; On top of that, engineers have equipped the C45 with interchangeable front and back panels, allowing you to effortlessly transform the look of the phone.

The owners of the 35-series devices will surely remember how hard and time-consuming it was to change the case - now even a child can handle it. Initially, the phone is produced in two basic colors - African Gray and Oriental Blue, and only African Gray models will be officially delivered to our country. In addition to the standard colors, there are 8 additional colors that can be installed by changing the panels. Here are the official color names for the optional panels: Shining Pearl, Cool Sky, Fresh Lemon, Dry Savanna, Hot Magma, Techno Ocean, Light Steel, and Metallic Grass.

The design of the C45 resembles the older phones of the current line: the same rounded shapes, no external antenna. Weighing in at 105 grams, the phone measures 109 x 46 x 23mm and feels good in the hand. The rubber keys are covered with a dark silver paint; they are pressed hard enough. The backlighting of the keyboard is yellow, so in daylight the labels on the keys sometimes merge. In the dark, of course, the backlight facilitates the work, and significantly. In C45, the navigation key (up / down) is combined with soft keys: the up arrow is combined with the left soft key, and the down arrow is with the right, both keys are a curved swing

At first, it seems that using the modified rocker keys is inconvenient: you often get confused, press the wrong key, sometimes pressing the menu selection key (right soft key) scrolls down the menu list. However, after a week you get used to such an organization of the keys, although errors still happen. It is impossible to call the location of the keys convenient, and this is perhaps the most significant drawback of the C45.

The amber-backlit graphic display is similar to the older models. The resolution of 101x64 pixels allows displaying up to 5 lines of text (that is, 4, not 5, as it might seem) of 16 characters each and a line of labels for soft keys. In general, the Russification of the menu is done as for S45 / ME45: there are no fundamental differences between the versions, although some inaccuracies have been corrected.

The C45 has a 550 mAh NiMH battery. From a single charge, according to the manufacturer, the phone has 200 hours of standby time and 5 hours of talk time. Real figures, as usual, are much less: in urban areas, with a total talk time of 10-12 minutes and using the organizer and games (no more than 20 minutes), the phone worked for about 2 days. In my opinion, the increased power consumption is directly related to the quality of the screen, which you have to pay for with a short operating time. The full charge time of the battery is about 1.5 hours.

Menu, features and other characteristics

When you turn on the phone, a cat wiggling its head pops up on the screen, which symbolizes the search for a network. When performing actions that require waiting, a fish wagging its tail appears. When turned off, the cat catches the fish swimming in the aquarium. Very pleasant and not boring animation - I think that future users of C45 will be satisfied with it.

The phone menu is organized in a standard way for Siemens phones; fast navigation using digital sequences is provided. The changes affected mainly the capabilities of the device. So, in addition to the memory of the SIM-card, there was a phone book for 50 numbers. For one name, you can only write down one phone number, and if you enter a number in international format, you can form a prefix by the name of the country - very convenient. There are four groups of subscribers: Free time, Office, Family and VIP. Both the name of the group and the icon corresponding to it can be changed. Traditionally, a personal sound signal is set for each of the presented groups. Working with the phone is facilitated by built-in profiles, there are six of them. Almost any settings related to phone tones and vibrating alerts can be changed.

Additionally, there are two empty slots for profiles that the user can create himself. The phone has 20 call tones and the ability to create 4 of your own melodies. The melodies are ordinary, it seemed to me that they sound a little worse than on the S45 / ME45, but it is quite comparable with the C35i. The volume of the call is not always enough, you can not hear the phone from the pocket of a winter jacket - the vibrating alert saves the situation, however, its characteristics are also quite unremarkable. This phone is best worn on the belt - then there will be no problems with missed calls at all.

There are lists of 10 missed, received and made calls with the time and date of the call. The redial list is called up by simply pressing the send call key.

In addition to supporting the EMS standard, C45 has SMS message templates written in Latin, for example, like this: How dela? There are 9 such templates in total, but you can write your own. The pictures installed initially are the same as in the S45 / ME45, so I refer you to the review of these models. Predictive text input T9 is provided only for English, since it is still impossible to type texts in Russian.

The alarm clock can be configured for a single operation, or you can set it to a specific time and the day of the week you selected from the list, then it will ring only on these days (even when the phone is turned off).

The Reminders item allows you to set up 50 events, record text notes, or set reminders for memorable dates and anniversaries. There are several types of reminders: Meeting, Task, Note. The organizer is extremely simple: you can not view the calendar - only a list of reminders.

Oddly enough, but there is no calculator in the device. Maybe this is due to the fact that I had an engineering sample for testing - let's hope the calculator will appear in the commercial release. The C45 also doesn't come pre-installed with WAP settings - you'll have to do the work manually, but it's not difficult. By the way, the wap-browser in this model is version 1.2.

Of the three games, two are familiar to us from older models (tetris with a loader and shooting balls), the third is BattleMail, a variation of the game on the theme of martial arts (connection via SMS or wap). Perhaps our young readers will like BattleMail, but I was not impressed with this game, although the technical solutions incorporated in it are certainly interesting.

Сonclusion

In terms of connection quality and sensitivity, this device resembles the C35i, as well as older models of the 45th line. As already mentioned, the volume of the call is not always enough, the vibrating alert is also quite average. The C45 model will appear in Russia approximately in January. With an average retail price of $150, this mid-range phone is a very good deal. For owners of the 35th series, an additional argument in favor of buying the C45 may be its compatibility with all accessories of the 35th series devices.

Like other Siemens phones, the new C45 middle-class model is a worthy product and will undoubtedly attract the attention of mobile communication users. One of the main advantages of this device is the availability of replaceable panels and the ease of installing new ones. The fate of the C45 may turn out very well - it will become as popular as the C35i.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

MG Dynamo electric car 27.04.2014

British automaker MG, celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, has unveiled the concept of a compact all-electric Dynamo hatchback.

The small car has a three-door design. It is designed primarily for city driving. The length is 3569 mm, own weight - 1080 kg.

With a fully charged battery pack, the car is said to be able to travel up to 80 km, although in practice this figure is likely to be less. Charging the batteries to 80% capacity will take approximately half an hour, and 100% replenishment of the energy reserve will take at least two hours.

The electric propulsion system delivers a maximum output of 70 horsepower and delivers 155 Nm of torque. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h is not specified, but the manufacturer notes that the electric car passes the mark of 50 km / h in 5,3 seconds from the start.

Dynamo is MG's first all-electric vehicle. When the new product reaches the market, it is not specified.

The launch of Dynamo in the UK could come in handy as the country plans to roll out a massive network of electric car charging stations. It is assumed that by 2020 up to 70 thousand specialized points will appear in the territory of Foggy Albion to recharge the batteries of hybrid cars and all-electric vehicles. And in London, a short-term electric car rental service should be launched in the near future. According to the plan, the fleet of such electric cars will have 100 vehicles by the end of this year. In the future, their number is planned to be increased to 3000. The cost of rental will be about 12 euros per hour.
