MOTOROLA T192

This handset incorporates such interesting design solutions as an internal antenna (Motorola's first model) and interchangeable faceplates. The internal antenna for this phone was developed for about three years: the designers tried to avoid the decrease in sensitivity (compared to the external antenna) that inevitably occurs when closing the upper part of the case with a hand, and also to increase the shock resistance of the phone. Most of the malfunctions associated with falling devices are due to internal antennas, and it is very difficult to diagnose such "diseases" even in a service center (due to damage to the antenna, the sensitivity of the phone drops). The developers claim that they managed to solve these problems, but at the same time the weight of the device increased by 20 grams compared to a similar model with an external antenna. By the way, the technologies used to create the internal antenna are protected by several patents.

Initially, only three colors will be available: Silver Mist, Magic Green and Graphite Grey. For testing, I had a Magic Green phone (dark green, almost black case with mother-of-pearl sparkles). At the moment there is information about several types of panels that can be purchased for this device: Orange Glow, Water, Snake and Jeans (I think these names speak for themselves). The set includes two panels of different colors.

With small dimensions (120 x 46 x 23 mm) the phone weighs 117 grams, which is quite acceptable. The body shapes are smooth, streamlined, not at all typical for classic phones from Motorola. The charger plug and headset jack are on the right side of the phone instead of at the bottom as usual. Unpleasant, but true: the T192 charger is not compatible not only with older models, but also with a new line of phones.

The battery of this device is lithium-ion with a capacity of 650 mAh, it lasts for 3 days, with 10 minutes of calls per day. Charging time is about 2 hours.

The keyboard is made of rubber and covered with silver paint. A different color keyboard will be available as an optional accessory and can be replaced just as easily as the bezel. But at the same time, such a replacement should be carried out very carefully, the keyboard outside the phone cannot be stretched, it is quite easy to tear it.

There is a menu navigation key, a separate on/off button for the phone, but otherwise everything is quite traditional. The keys are quite small - dialing a number with one hand, you experience discomfort due to the resulting muscle tension.

The T192 has a graphical display with a resolution of 96x64 pixels and a green backlight. The screen displays 3 lines of text, as well as a line of icons at the top and labels for the keys at the bottom. The user has the ability to manually change the font size from standard to large; in this case, one line will occupy almost the entire screen - in a word, this function is for people with very poor eyesight or for those who want to look at the phone from a distance of a couple of meters.

In standby mode, the screen can display two animated screensavers: on the first - an approaching car, on the second - a fish swimming among the air bubbles.

The main menu in this phone is organized like a carousel: several icons are scrolled in a circle, and an explanatory inscription is displayed under the central icon. There is no quick menu navigation, but the 9 most frequently used functions can be assigned to so-called shortcut keys.

The sub-items of the main menu look more familiar and are implemented as a standard menu in the latest line of Motorola phones. Of the traditional settings, it is worth mentioning two talk timers - a minute and a custom one.

The T192 cannot boast of a variety of signals: 11 tones and pre-installed ringtones, plus the ability to record 2 motives yourself. But any of the listed signals can be assigned to SMS messages. The melodies are pleasant and not very hackneyed, but there are still too few of them.

The phone book allows you to save up to 100 numbers, and 10 can be assigned voice tags. Voice dialing works very well, tags are recognized even in noisy environments. Possibility of creation of groups of subscribers, in Russian profiles is provided; there are four in total and one more by default. For each profile, the ringer volume, signal type, signal type for a message, vibrating alert operation mode are configured. When adding a new subscriber, you will be prompted to select a group for him; one of the profiles is set in edit mode.

Creating and editing SMS messages does not cause problems, everything is standard: 10 prepared templates in English; support for the Russian input language and the availability of EMS. In a separate item, the exchange of SMS messages, or the chat mode (here, by the way, there is a log that allows you to view the correspondence) is taken out.

There are lists of the last 10 dialed, 10 received and 10 missed calls with time and date.

It remains to say that wap-browser version 1.1 is installed in the phone and working with it does not cause any difficulties. T192 supports GPRS, but this technology is intended only for cheaper viewing of wap-pages. The user cannot set up GPRS on his own - he only has to use the standard settings made for a specific operator.

The only game - it's "bricks", a remake of arkanoid, and uninteresting.

The Organizer menu includes a calculator with currency converter functions. The organizer itself is also located here, in which you can write down a memo: enter text and set a signal.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Hydrogen crossover Audi H-Tron Quattro 12.01.2016

Audi at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit for the first time demonstrated the concept crossover H-Tron Quattro, powered by hydrogen.

The power plant of the car combines a block of hydrogen fuel cells and a battery. An electric motor with a power of 90 kW (121 horsepower) is installed on the front axle, and a power of 140 kW (188 horsepower) is installed on the rear axle.

Audi claims that the crossover can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. At one gas station, the car can cover a distance of up to 600 km; replenishment of hydrogen reserves takes approximately four minutes.

The H-Tron Quattro also showcases advanced self-driving and automatic parking technologies. Audi's autopilot system will debut on the next-generation Audi A8 executive sedan due in 2017. The technologies of this system can control the car during parking or driving in heavy traffic with frequent stops and starting on the highway at speeds up to 60 km/h.

In addition, the concept uses a new generation virtual dashboard, which we talked about the other day. It features large Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) displays with haptic feedback. Mobile devices such as smartphones and smart watches can be connected wirelessly.
