Review
In addition to the phone, the OEM box contains a battery and a three-piece charger. The charging itself is small, medium power - 650 mAh, 5 V. My phone was equipped with a 3.6 V thin lithium polymer (Ultra Slim) battery with a nominal capacity of 500 mAh. Design The phone, even today remarkably small, fits comfortably in the hand, it does not spoil even the reclining active flip. The weight and thickness of the body of the device are very small (the weight of the phone with a standard battery is 83 g, dimensions - 97 x 50 x 15 mm). The devices are available in the following colors: Marble Beige (marble beige), Slate Blue (ash blue), Mountain Heather (mountain heather), Urban Gray (silver gray). One of the distinguishing features of the phone is an active flip (a cover covering the phone's keyboard). It does not interfere with operation and does not spoil the design. Yes, and talking, in my opinion, is more convenient after all, placing the microphone near the mouth, and not near the ear. As in the Ericsson T20, opening (and closing) the flip activates the phone and turns on the backlight automatically. If you want to continue talking with the flip closed, slide and hold the side volume key while closing the flip. The graphic display has a resolution of 33x101 pixels. The side key allows you to scroll through the message text on the screen containing three text lines. The simple and convenient SIM card holder makes it easy to insert and remove the card. The latter is securely fixed with side clips, but at the same time it can be removed with one movement of the thumb. For the first time, a Li-Polymer battery was used in this device. Information about batteries of this type is contradictory: the first serial copies of this one of the newest types of batteries were distinguished by some incorrectness in operation. In my phone, fortunately, only the advantages of the new technology appeared: light weight, not affected by the memory effect, large capacity; The design of the contact pads of the battery and the phone, which is different from the T10 model, was used, excluding the slightest backlash of the battery. An interesting function is performed by the side volume slider: when it is activated in the standby mode (or the main operating mode), the display shows the current date, the name of the installed profile (read about profiles below) and the approximate time spent in the talk and standby mode, which allows you to more accurately evaluate the resources of the phone and recharge the dead battery in time. At ninety percent discharge, the phone warns of the need for recharging, after which it turns off after a while. When you turn it on again, you can call a couple more times. Charging the battery is possible in 2 modes - fast and normal. The fast mode is activated in case of minimal battery discharge, when the battery is discharged by 50% or more, the phone charges in normal mode. communication On the whole, I was satisfied with the transceiver part. The phone supports 2 standards - GSM 900 - 1800. In the lower left part of the display there is a five-level signal strength sensor. The sensitivity of the phone is quite good - something in between the younger models of Motorola and the middle models of Siemens. As in the case of Ericsson T20, you can only talk on the phone with 2 bars of the tension indicator. In everything that concerns the quality of reception, the device is completely identical to its younger brother - t20. The phone supports all GSM phase 2+ features, including extended GSM and e-GSM, a new frequency band reserved for GSM when additional RF spectrum extension is required. The T28 is one of the first mobile phones to support the e-GSM specification. Oddly enough, working with SMS on a three-line display is quite comfortable. The greatest convenience lies in the very smooth scrolling of the message text. Of course, everyone is aware of the possibility of connecting the Chat-board to the Ericsson "T" series (the T28 requires a special keyboard model with a different supply voltage, although they are indistinguishable externally). It is also possible to send SMS to groups of mobile users. The menu has a special setting for Groups, where you can enter user names from the phone book. You can also send SMS to e-mail, of course, if the operator has an appropriate gateway on the Internet, however, today almost everyone has such a gateway. Menu To enter the menu, you need to press the down or up arrow keys located immediately above the numeric keypad of the device. There are several main sections in the Menu: Phone book, Messages, Call information, Options, Additional functions, Call management, Shortcut keys. To help beginners, there is an on-screen tooltip that explains a particular menu function. True, sometimes the tips are too concise, but this does not matter, because there is also an instruction. Up to 28 languages are supported (isn't that where the name of the T28 J comes from), including Arabic, Greek, Polish, Russian. Up to 100 numbers are stored in the SIM phone book, another 100 and up to 10 e-mail addresses are stored in the phone's memory. Calls Ericsson has not changed the sound filling of their phones for quite a long time. No exception was made for this model. A selection of melodies made 2 years ago, now, of course, is not striking either in quantity or novelty, and yet: 14 built-in melodies + the ability to record 4 of your own. The vibration signal of medium power is well felt through the fabric of the coat. There are different modes of operation of the vibrating alert: together with a regular call and autonomously from it. As a person with an elementary musical education, I was sincerely pleased with the device of the melody editor. Firstly, it is much more convenient to enter notes arranged in the traditional sequence (first "do", then "re", etc.) than if they are randomly scattered over the phone. Secondly, you can write your own melody according to all the rules of musical notation - using flats, sharps, pauses between fragments of the melody. Even the duration of the sound of each note is regulated, in a word, the phone provides the widest possibilities for playing music. Of the pleasant moments: it is possible to set personalized signals for each of the subscribers of the phone book, there is a minutely reminder signal during a conversation. A convenient feature of call management is the setting of a phone profile. Using different profiles, you can quickly change the phone's mode of operation depending on the time of day and the location of the owner. The profile, in a nutshell, is the setting of the signal volume mode and the reception of calls. You can set profiles such as: Normal, Meetng, in Car, Outdoor, port H-free, home, and also create your own. For each profile, you can configure the vibration signal, options for receiving calls from the list of allowed calls, call forwarding, backlighting. This model doesn't support WAP, but aren't we expecting too much from such a screen? Voice dialing for 10 numbers also allows you to enter voice tags for the "Answer" and "Busy" commands in the menu. Now, when a call rings, to connect with a subscriber or call a busy signal on the handset, it is enough to say the desired command aloud. Additional features It should be noted Network Identity Time Zone - a function that allows you to identify the time zone using operator information, if, of course, this service is supported by the operator. Two built-in games: solitaire and beloved by all Tetris - will brighten up the painful minutes of moving in the subway or commuter train. Accessories The most original accessories for T28 are, of course, unique hands-free with a built-in MP3 player or FM radio and a mini-keyboard that will help you quickly type and send SMS or activate / deactivate some phone functions. The speed of typing SMS when using the Chat-board increases by almost 3 or even 10 times. Summary This device, either because of the design features, or for some other reason unknown to me, they prefer to refer to the category of women. I didn't think so: just a good business-class phone with a claim to style. Good reception, convenient menu and ultra-light weight make the device very comfortable for everyday use.
