A useful distinguishing feature of ELs from incandescent lamps is that the former will work even if the heating filament breaks. The main thing that is necessary to ignite the gas inside the lamp is a relatively high voltage of 300...800 V.
In Fig. 2.10 shows the electrical circuit of a lamp for low-power EL (4-8 W); this is enough for illumination in the car interior and at dusk outdoors. The device works efficiently and is useful wherever there is no mains voltage of 220 V.
Rice. 2.10. Electrical diagram of the converter
The scheme is easy to repeat and contains a minimum of detail.
Principle of operation
The device consists of a rectangular pulse generator implemented on the popular KR1006VI1 timer. The microcircuit is connected according to the standard oscillator circuit; pulse frequency - about 20 kHz.
The output of microcircuit D1 is loaded with a powerful field-effect transistor operating in key mode and a step-up transformer. The transistor opens with each positive edge of the pulses from the output of microcircuit D1. As T1, an industrially manufactured transformer TPP277-127/220-50 is used, connected in reverse. One of the primary windings is the output winding, and one of the secondary windings is connected to the source circuit of the power transistor.
Unregulated use of the transformer is compensated by the high frequency, due to which it is possible to eliminate saturation and heating of T1 during long-term operation.
About details
Instead of the T1 type indicated in the diagram, you can use another one with similar electrical characteristics. The primary winding should have a DC resistance of 110...300 Ohms, and the secondary winding should have a DC resistance of 12...15 Ohms. The winding resistance ratio is 1:20. You can select a transformer for this circuit in a different way.
Among transformers for an operating voltage of 220 V, you need to select the current. which on the secondary step-down winding without load will produce an alternating voltage of 6...8 V.
The current consumed from the battery does not exceed 120 mA. All fixed resistors are MLT-0,5 type.
Capacitor C1 type K50-20; C2, C3 type KM. Capacitor C4 brand KBP-F or K73-11.
Establishment
The circuit does not need to be configured, and if the elements are in working order and installed correctly, the device starts working immediately.
During operation, transformer T1 will emit a quiet whistle and can heat up to a temperature of 50...60°C. Field-effect transistor VT1 should be soldered taking precautions; Soldering each pin takes no more than 2 seconds. The soldering iron must be grounded.
The circuit elements are mounted on a perforated circuit board, which is hidden in a plastic case. The circuit supply voltage (11...14 V) is connected through a connector of type RP10-5.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens
02.05.2024
In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers.

Advanced Infrared Microscope
02.05.2024
Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>
Air trap for insects
01.05.2024
Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>
Random news from the Archive New AMD FX-series processors
04.09.2014
AMD has expanded its FX desktop processor family with new models designed for use in high-performance desktops and enthusiast systems.
A total of three FX-chips are presented: these are the FX-8370, FX-8370E and FX-8320E models with eight processing cores, which are AM3 +.
The eldest of the announced processors, FX-8370, operates at a nominal frequency of 4,0 GHz with the possibility of boosting up to 4,3 GHz using "turbo" technology. The maximum value of dissipated thermal energy (TDP) is 125 W. Estimated price - $200.
Chips FX-8370E and FX-8320E operate at a frequency of 3,3-4,3 GHz and 3,2-4,0 GHz, respectively. At the same time, their TDP is 95 watts. The price is set at $200 and $147.
All processors are equipped with a DDR3-1866 RAM controller and 8 MB of third-level cache. The unlocked multiplier makes overclocking easier.
At the same time, AMD announced price cuts for some previously released FX-series processors. Thus, the FX-9590 model fell in price from $306 to $230, and the FX-9370 version - from $224 to $211. The FX-8350 chip is now available for $180 (previously $195), while the FX-8320 is available for $147 (previously $153).
