ACER V750. Mobile phone overview
Review
The standard delivery set of the Acer V750 phone is not quite usual. In addition to the device itself, a string for wearing it on the hand, a battery, a charger and instructions, this includes a headset. Not many companies allow themselves such a luxury, but, in my opinion, it is very convenient, at least for users, it saves both time and money. Here I mean the time of searching for accessories, of course, and the money spent on them. The phone itself looks very nice. Its design reminded me of two models at the same time: Nokia 3210 with only an external antenna and Nec DB4000. The first - in shape, it is the same slightly curved under the arm, a rectangular body with rounded corners, and the second, probably in color, standard silver, like many others, but for some reason it was NEC that came to mind. I’ll note right away that Acer’s paint is of much higher quality, and it seems that it shouldn’t chip. The buttons of the device are slightly depressed and are also covered with silver paint to match the body color. When backlit, the numbers themselves shine beautifully, and not the buttons as a whole, which creates the effect of a plane, especially at a short distance, but dialing a number is very convenient. In general, the phone looks modern, stylish and elegant. Another advantage is its compactness (112 x 47 x 17 mm) and lightness (90 g with a 600 mAh Li-Ion battery). In my opinion, this model is more suitable for women, but many of my acquaintances of the opposite sex said that they would also like to acquire such devices. The instruction included in the kit is a very useful thing for those who can read in Italian. Those who do not know it will be disappointed, because the instructions were not written in any other language. Sometimes only in English some names of menu items come across, and on the last page there is a menu diagram with English and Italian names. Thus, I had to surf the net for instructions, because as the operation progressed, some small questions still arose, despite the rather logically constructed menu. Naturally, I found only the English version, and even that is not very complete. Probably, the instructions have not yet been translated into Russian. The battery, which also serves as the back of the phone, is a 600 mAh lithium-ion battery. Its standby time is from 61 to 152 hours and talk time is from 2.4 to 5.1 hours. It must be said directly that it lasted a maximum of a couple of days with active use (15-20 minutes of talk time per day), especially if the screen saver was turned on. Charging time is about two and a half hours. Subjectively, compared with other devices of the same class, the battery took a long time to charge, but was consumed quickly. In principle, there are 2 more types of batteries for this model. This nickel-metal hydride battery also has a capacity of 600 mAh. Its operating time (according to documentation) in standby mode is 61-152 hours, and in talk mode - 2.4 - 5.1 hours. Its charging time is slightly less - 140 minutes, but we must remember that Ni-Mh batteries have a memory effect, which reduces battery life. The second one is another Li-Ion battery, the standby time of which is 92 - 228 hours, and the talk time is 3.6 - 7.6 hours. Its charging time increases to 290 minutes. It should be borne in mind that the weight of the device in the presence of such batteries increases, in the first case up to 108 g, and in the second - up to 103 g, which, however, is still not very much. After switching on Before turning on the phone, the SIM card and battery were inserted. The SIM-card holder in this model is metal, which increases the reliability of its fastening. After the battery cover was slammed and the power button was pressed, the phone began to search for the network. First, the name of the company appeared in large letters, then a spinning globe, and then the name of the network operator, the battery charge level (4 divisions), the signal level (4 divisions), the conversation line number, the number, date and time were displayed. I note that registration here, in comparison with other devices, takes a longer time. In any case, it is very tangible, and I would like this process to be somehow accelerated, but, alas, this is impossible. There are no welcome inscriptions, except for the name of the company at the beginning. And they cannot be edited. But there is a screen saver, which can be even more pleasant. After a few seconds of work in standby mode, a nice animated screensaver appears on the phone screen, which is usually very popular with the entire female half of the population. And the screensaver can be changed. There is an opportunity to put on a cartoon with a sleeping dog who dreams of different types of products, or you can admire the underwater world. If you are not satisfied with either one or the other, then you can leave the usual picture with the name of the operator, or turn off the display altogether. Then, in general, the screen goes blank, and it seems that you have it turned off, but in fact it works. Pressing any key or call will activate the image. A certain small negative point in using animations is the discharge of the battery. It cannot be said that energy is greatly saved and the battery drains more when using them, but still, when the screen is off, the phone can work longer without recharging. But, as you know, you have to pay for everything good ... The device's display is graphic, has a high resolution - 98x64 pixels. It allows you to display up to 5 lines of 13 characters, but fonts do not have the ability to change dynamically. Soft green light illumination. Unfortunately, it goes out abruptly and immediately, and not like in the auditorium. But in a special submenu you can set the brightness of the backlight. Menu Tricks Using the menu system in this phone is not difficult. It is organized as follows. Pressing the "Up/Down" key enters the menu and displays 4 small icons on the screen with submenus on the right and 4 on the left. Between them, a large animated icon of the currently active submenu appears, as well as its name on the bottom line. Navigating through the menu is again done using the "Up/Down" key. When you get into the submenu, the hierarchy system is already more familiar. At the top, the name of the submenu is simply displayed, and below its items listed in a column. Each item corresponds to a certain number. As a result, using a certain sequence of such numbers, you can call some menu item. Most often, this method is used to call the most used items. So, by pressing 1-2 in the main menu, you can find yourself in the menu for searching for entries by name in the phone book. Although there is an even simpler way to get into the phone book - this is scrolling through the list of entered numbers using the side keys of the device. You can also add new subscribers to your address book in two ways. The first is to select the "Add entry" item in the same "Phone Book" menu, and the second is to simply dial the number and long press the "Answer" button (with the image of a handset), after which you will be prompted to enter the name and number of the cell where it will be stored. You can assign up to 9 numbers for one-touch speed dialing. In general, up to 160 numbers can be stored in the phone's memory, not counting the memory of the SIM card. When entering a number, you can choose where to place it. The phone also remembers the last 10 incoming, 10 outgoing and 10 missed calls. You can view these lists only after pressing the "Answer" button twice, which I did not get used to right away. At first, I always pressed this button only once, and wondered why the list does not appear, but the dialing of the last dialed number starts. By pressing 7 - 2 in the main menu, you can proceed to the ring type setting. In total, 20 melodies and 8 calls are available in this model. Please note that the concepts of "melody" and "call" are very different here, even the numbering is different for each. The melodies, although mostly very high, are also quite pleasant, caressing the ear, some calls are also very good. It is impossible to change signals for an alarm clock and SMS - messages. Interestingly, this model has 2 types of vibrating alert. One is normal, and the second consists of two parts: when you call, the vibrating alert works first, and then the signal sounds. Moreover, it is impossible to change this call even to another type, not to mention the melody. It is strange that you cannot turn on the vibrating alert at the same time, although this function is used much more often in practice. The vibrating alert on the phone itself is rather weak, it is difficult to distinguish in a bag, in a pocket - insofar as it is. And the call is loud, heard without problems and in a noisy place. By the way, you can’t turn off the volume of the call with one touch, you must definitely climb into the menu (7-1). But the vibrating alert is installed without problems, by long pressing the "C" ("Cancel") key. Phone Wisdom If you move further along the menu, then the last item will be the "Tools" submenu, where many additional phone functions are hidden. When you open it, you will find that, among other things, the phone also has an alarm clock, a stopwatch, a calculator and two toys. Alarm clock - the most common, without wisdom. You can also turn on a certain function and the phone will beep every hour and remind you that time flies very quickly. Stopwatch is very handy. It is possible to time several times (up to 9) without updating the counter. And then view the entire list of "serifs" in its entirety. The calculator is also very handy. You just need to write the desired expression using the icons, and then press the "Answer" button, and the result will be displayed on the screen. There are only two games, but they are quite decent. Beloved by many "Snake" and a variant of children's long-forgotten "Fifteen", only here it is better to call it "Nine", because you need to place 9 numbers in order, not 15. There are 7 difficulty levels for each game. A list with the best results is also displayed. To make the list of all the additional features of the device complete, it is also necessary to mention that the device is equipped with a built-in modem with a data transfer rate of up to 14400 Kbps. Connection quality I would characterize both the sound quality and the sensitivity of this phone as average. He caught well, but there were frequent cases of disconnection. In places with poor reception, he behaved selectively, sometimes it seemed to be normal, and sometimes something crackled, and, in the end, the call fell off. Moreover, such a situation could occur in one place, only at different times. Perhaps this, of course, is the result of network congestion, but such a fact took place. The sound quality is good. Speech is clear and well-defined. Noises, as such, were not noticed, or I simply did not pay attention to them, since in 95 percent of cases there was an echo effect that interfered greatly with conversations, and all irritation went to him. When using also hand's free, there were no special deviations from the normal operation of the phone. At least, neither I nor my interlocutors noticed any deterioration in sound when talking through the headset microphone. The call is always audible even in a very noisy place, as there is an auto-raising function. Those. when a call is ringing, you do not need to press any buttons on the phone; in the earpiece, with this function enabled, you will immediately hear the caller's voice. The headset itself is quite comfortable: a long wire, a small earpiece, there is a clothespin for fixing the wire to clothes. Although she had problems. The first couple of days I went through it normally, then I turned around somehow unsuccessfully, the wire fell out, and it was somehow hard to insert it back. It took a lot of time to get everything right. Then he, however, pulled out again, I got tired, and in the future I went without a clothespin. Total So, Acer V750 is a very mediocre device. Small, light, with a good design, not particularly "wound". The battery drains quickly, the sound quality is very average, but the headset is included, which does not impair performance at all. Here, perhaps, this is a brief description of this phone. By the way, the Acer V755 differs from its colleague only in design. The latter has an opening lid that covers the keyboard. If you managed to buy such a phone for 130-140 dollars, then I do not think that you will be very disappointed. Faithfully, the Acer V750 will serve you for quite some time.
