Unfortunately, only dry debris and dust can be removed with a vacuum cleaner. Well, what if you need to collect spilled oil, finally, just dirt? Is it really the old fashioned way to use a rag? Suddenly, a very simple solution came up.

I took a five-liter canister and poured water into it. I cut a hole in its upper part, where I tightly drove an aluminum pipe. After that, I connected the neck of the canister with the suction inlet of the vacuum cleaner with a hose, and pulled another similar hose onto the aluminum pipe.

Turning on the vacuum cleaner, I made sure that the device works fine - it successfully sucked in dirt, debris, spilled water.

The water seal has fully justified itself: it almost completely filtered out both solid and liquid components. At the same time, the filter of the vacuum cleaner was almost not dirty.

By the way, a vacuum cleaner with such a device captures dust just as well, so they can clean clothes, floors, carpets.

Cleaning a water filter is much easier than a fabric filter - just drain the contaminated water and, after rinsing the canister, fill it again.

MAXIM solutions for data transmission over the power grid 30.04.2010

MAX2990 is a PLC modem that allows organizing half-duplex asynchronous data transmission at speeds up to 100 kbps in the carrier frequency range of 10...490 kHz using the existing electrical network.

The use of digital OFDM modulation provides a reliable connection in low-quality networks under conditions of impulse noise and group signal delays. It also avoids the use of equalizers to compensate for frequency selective signal attenuation. Anti-jamming data coding makes the MAX2990 one of the most reliable PLC modems for industrial applications. The MAX2990 combines both a PHY layer and a MAC layer implemented on a 16-bit RISC microcontroller with a MAXQ core.

The built-in flash memory for storing the MAC code and user program is 32 kB, the amount of RAM for data storage is 8 kB. The microcircuit contains a real-time clock, as well as timers with support for PWM mode. Interfaces are provided for communication with the applied microcontroller: UART, SPI, I2C. Debugging of the program code is carried out via JTAG. MAX2991 is an analog front-end for use with the MAX2990 PLC modem.

The transmitting part of the microcircuit performs the input of the OFDM signal into the line and includes an IIR filter, a 10-bit DAC, a configurable low-pass filter and a line pre-driver. The receiving part amplifies and filters the signal and consists of a low-pass filter, a 2-stage AGC with a dynamic range of 60 dB, and a 10-bit ADC. The connection to the MAX2990 is via a serial interface.
