Kids, with pleasure, folding cubes and collecting pyramids, do not suspect that these are the so-called educational games designed to develop ingenuity and coordination of movements. But now they have grown up - and the cubes are forgotten: they are being replaced by other, more complex entertainments. One of the games for teenagers is offered by the French magazine System D. It is also designed for intelligence, coordination of movements and even dexterity.

This kind of game can be conditionally called fishing, because it really resembles real fishing: there is both a fishing rod and a catch. But there is no water - it is not needed, since all actions are performed on the table. And just like in many other games, there are also two people involved in order to create a spirit of competition. And one of the advantages of the game in question is that teenagers can make all the accessories for unusual fishing on their own.

This does not require anything store-bought, purchased - everything you need, the boys will find without difficulty. A round rod like a handle from a shovel and old bamboo ski poles - and you can get down to business. It will take another piece of wire, but this stuff is full in the pockets of any yard teenager.

The ski pole will act as a rod. Its length can be any - as long as it is convenient to play. The only condition in this case is that for both anglers it must be the same. A "fishing line" is tied to the upper end of the stick - any cord that ends with a wire hook. That's all: the fishing rod is ready. But what and how can it be caught?

Fishing without water
"Fishing rod" for the game: 1 - bamboo stick; 2 - cord-"fishing line"; 3 - wire hook

Fishing without water
Game "fish" (A - "roach", B - "pike"): 1 - body made of a round stick; 2 - ring-tail; 3 - hook-"head" ("gills")

Fishing without water
Moment of the game: "peck"!

The role of fish is assigned to short segments of the mentioned round rod. They can be of different lengths: after all, a fish is usually caught, as in that saying, not only big, but also small. Therefore, the segments can be conditionally designated as "bleak", "roach", "perch", "pike", "bream" - differing not only in size, but also in color. Each piece of fish should have a “tail” ring on one side, and “gills” in the form of a hook on the other. It is easy to bend them from a nail driven into one and the other end (you can also use shop screw rings and hooks). That's all the equipment.

The essence of fishing is to carefully move the rod, bring the hook on the fishing line to one of the "fish" lying on the table and manage to pick it up by the ring: the "fish" is caught! Now the most dexterous one can already hook the next "fish" with her hook: the "pike" ate the "roach".

Such a game is also interesting because the guys are free to establish its rules themselves. You can agree, for example, that the one who catches more than the other will win, or, say, whoever catches the biggest "fish" before everyone else.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>
