Many people know or guess that any lock, even the most expensive one, can be opened with certain skills and devices. The design of the proposed lock is simple, but will provide maximum "pleasure" to an experienced burglar before he "bites" it. People who have ever been interested in these issues probably know a lock with a key of the "sea bolt" type (breaking bolt) - teeth (grooves) are cut on the upper edge of the latch or a conventional valve, with which the "falling" part of the key engages, and when turning the last heck moves away. Everything is fine here, but if necessary, or maybe malicious intent, in two or three attempts, the desired length of the free end of the key is easily selected ...

In our case, everything is somewhat different. On the door jamb and the door itself, brackets are fixed (preferably through bolts with a flat smooth head), into which a latch is inserted with a number of holes drilled in it. Moreover, their number, pitch and location relative to the upper edge of the latch (size "a") are chosen arbitrarily. A hole is drilled in the door above the latch at a distance "b" (60 - 100 mm) from the axis of the holes and in the middle between the door brackets - a keyhole. It must be borne in mind that the higher it is above the latch, the longer the key will turn out. Bushings inserted into the hole with glue will extend the life of the door.

Now about the design of the key. It consists of a cylindrical rod with a slot, two levers made of halves of a tube cut along the axis, a tubular slider with an oblique cut and a tongue. The swivel of the parts of the key, the slot of the rod and the cut of the engine serve to fold the key. The different-shouldered tongue has a beard, the place of which (size "b") is determined from the relative position of the borehole and the holes in the latch. Since the engine has to be rotated 180 ° in the process of opening and closing the lock, it is rather difficult to control its position. To this end, at the free (in the drawing - left) end of the engine, a part of the edge is slightly bent, showing where the engine nose is located (instead of bending, you can make a cut). To prevent the engine from flying off the rod, it is better to make the heads of the rivets holding the tongue high.

The ideality of this design lies in the fact that it is almost impossible to feel the holes on the latch on the outside of the door with anything other than a "native key". However, it remains possible to "calculate" the position of the heck from the heads of the bracket bolts. To exclude this, the brackets are made asymmetrical or with long legs, and so that the ill-wisher cannot see the secret of the lock from the inside (with the door open), the mechanism is covered with a box or rubber sheet.
