In any yard you can see flower beds, playground elements made from old tires. On river boats and marinas they are used as fenders. But these are far from all areas of application of automotive footwear that has served its time. Take, for example, a swing... If you replace the traditional board-seat with a tire, and place its attachment points inside, then the absence of corners and protruding parts will make this exciting attraction quite safe. The design is easy to manufacture and is available for literally everyone to repeat.

The base or supports of the swing are two frames, curved from pipes with a diameter of about 40 mm and a length of 7000 mm. Frames can also be made composite by connecting short sections with a transverse insert pipe, the outer diameter of which is equal to the inner diameter of the main pipes. It is necessary to fix such a bundle with M8 bolts.

The pipes are bent in two places - at an equal distance from the ends. In this case, the centers of the bending radii are 1200 mm apart, and the lower ends are 2500 mm apart. The upper parts are pulled together so that in the lateral projection an isosceles triangle is obtained. To stiffen the structure, the ends of the pipes are fixed in the ground using one of the methods shown in the figure. The connecting nodes of the upper crossbars serve simultaneously as suspension points for the chains. The arrangement of nodes can be different. The proposed options are made without the use of a welding machine, all fasteners are bolted. The tire is suspended on two or four chains of the same length, fixed at its four points (from the inside) with bolts and washers. For a stable position of the tire, the attachment points should be located at the same distance from each other.

Water swings are great fun. And not only entertainment, but also a means of general physical training.

Their design is extremely simple - a metal or plastic barrel with a capacity of 200 to 600 liters, to which two curved steel or aluminum pipes with footpads are attached.

In the swing that I built and tested last summer on the Volga, a metal fuel barrel with a capacity of 200 liters was used.

Steel pipes Ø 40 mm are welded to it with an open drain plug (the inner surface of the barrel, of course, was cleaned of fuel residues).

The platform for the feet was made of boards 50 mm thick and attached to the flattened ends of the pipes with nails through drilled holes. The ends of the platform, facing the swingers, are lined with thick rubber sheets.

Fastening of sheets is bolted - eight M4 bolts flush. Moreover, the rubber was applied in such a way that a gap of 25 mm was formed at the end. It serves to protect the legs from accidental injuries.

The finished swing was filed - all sharp edges were blunted, covered with soil and brightly colored.

They are used by two or four people at the same time. Leaning with their feet on a platform submerged in water, they alternately squat and straighten up, holding hands on the handrails-pipes.
