Where can you see a fire that has not been extinguished since 1962?

In the American city of Centralia, the underground part has been continuously burning since 1962.

The fire began when firefighters set fire to rubbish heaps located in an abandoned pit of an open mine, then extinguishing them. However, they did it badly, and through the smoldering lower layers of debris, the fire spread to other abandoned mines.

They tried to put out the fire, but again unsuccessfully, and due to the increasing concentration of carbon monoxide and the danger to the life of the townspeople, since 1984 they began to be relocated. Now in Centralia, out of 1000 people of the former population, only 9 remain.

How do we distinguish colors?

Taking color photographs is a physical process. But the perception of color by a person is connected with his psyche.

The eyes receive some visual information (but do not "see" in the literal sense of the word), it is transmitted to the brain, which processes it, and only after that we are able to distinguish objects.

Although we "see" with our brain and distinguish colors with it, the eyes perform a very important and irreplaceable function. They perceive seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Some retinal receptors are irritated by twilight light, others are only irritated by bright light, and color vision is associated with them.

How does the eye distinguish colors? This is how the Yang-Helmholtz theory of color vision explains it. The eye contains three types of nerve cells that react respectively to red, green, blue-violet color.

Thus, if all three types of nerve cells receive the same stimulation, we see white. If the eye receives mainly green light, the cells responsible for the green part of the spectrum are excited more than others, and we see green. When the object is yellow, "green" and "red" cells are stimulated.

Samsung Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2 smartphones 01.07.2014

Samsung has announced several new smartphones of completely different lines. The range of the manufacturer was replenished with models Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2.

All devices belong to the budget segment, but represent its different levels. So, Galaxy Core II has the largest display with a diagonal of 4,5 inches with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and the most productive quad-core platform with a frequency of 1,2 GHz.

The youngest among the presented and concurrently one of the most budgetary Samsung smartphones - Galaxy Star 2, is equipped with the same screen as the previous model. It is based on the Spreadtrum SC6815 platform with a single 7GHz Cortex-A1 processor core. The amount of RAM and flash memory did not decrease - 512 MB and 4 GB, respectively. The kid is also deprived of a front camera, and the rear has a resolution of only 2 megapixels. The battery capacity is 1300 mAh. The dimensions of the smartphone are identical to the Galaxy Young 2. Actually, it is almost impossible to distinguish them from the outside. I am glad that even the most budget smartphone is still running Android 4.4.
