In which country can you see commercials that have become a television series?

Supermarket chain ICA has been running commercials on Swedish television from 2001 to this day. Each video is a humorous sketch about the store employees, 30-45 seconds long, and they are updated about once every two weeks.

Many Swedes are used to this mini-series, follow the fate of the characters and wait for the release of new videos.

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

What is talc?

Talc is the softest mineral known to man. It is so soft that it can be easily scraped off from the whole piece with the help of nails. It is a small flake or flake of a mineral that has a silvery-white or pale green color. In solid form, talc is known as soapstone. In this case, it is a grayish or greenish mineral, often covered with brown spots, very soft and greasy to the touch. The best talc is mined in Piedmont in Italy.

However, its deposits are found in many countries, including England, Canada, Germany, Russia and Zimbabwe. The world's largest reserves of it are located on the Atlantic coast of the United States. Due to the heat-insulating properties of soapstone, in the old days it was often used to make kitchen utensils, for which it received the name "pot stone". It has also been used as a material for pipes and sinks.

Since soapstone is poorly soluble in acids, the walls and bottoms of laboratory vessels used to store caustic liquids are covered with plates of it. It is a poor conductor of electricity and therefore finds use as an insulating material for switchboards and other similar objects. For lining various surfaces, it uses its property to become harder when heated.

The ancient Egyptians carved magical talismans and amulets from talc and covered them with colored azure. Approximately three-quarters of the world's talc is used to make cosmetics, glazed tiles and other ceramics, paper, rubber and roofing materials.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The mobile phone recognizes the owner by gait 10.02.2006

Perhaps Finland will soon begin production of a mobile phone that recognizes its owner by walking.

VTT has developed a prototype of the device, which has a motion sensor added. In a few hours, the phone gets acquainted with the manner of walking of its owner and then turns on only if it "understands" that it is in its hands. If the gait of the person who wants to use the phone seems unfamiliar to the device, it requires you to enter a password.

Alien is correctly recognized in 98% of cases. The phone mistakenly does not recognize the owner in only 4% of cases. But, like a pedometer, it is advisable to wear it on your belt, and not in your pocket or bag - then the features of the gait are smoothed out.

In addition, the proportion of errors increases if the owner of the phone switches from ordinary heels to stilettos, if the gait has changed due to a leg injury, and if the owner is under the influence of alcohol. But it is possible that in the latter case, he will not be able to enter the password either.
