How old are checkers?

The two oldest games played by man are checkers and chess. They are somewhat similar, but since the checkers are simpler, it is believed that they appeared first. Checkers was played in early Egypt, the game is at least 5000 years old. Plato and Homer mention the game of checkers in their writings, so checkers were also known in ancient Greece. It is believed that the Romans adopted this game from the Greeks.
