Why does the body need vitamin C?

We will start answering this question in a somewhat strange way. Did you know that the sailors of the British Navy were once called "limi" (from the word "lemon")? So they were nicknamed due to the fact that already at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, when the East India Company began to supply British ships with fruits, they began to give sailors a lemon every day.

And why was it done? To prevent a terrible disease called scurvy. For hundreds of years, sailors have been terrified of this disease. It amazed people when they had to live for a long time on canned food, when they could not get fresh vegetables and fruits. Lemon water or juice prevented this disease. In this juice, obviously, there was something necessary for the human body for normal functioning. Now, these days, we already know that it is vitamin C, or ascorbic acid.

So why didn't sailors get enough food with vitamin C? Because vitamin C is destroyed at high temperature, under the influence of air and during storage. When harvesting products and storing them in the old ways, vitamin C in them was completely destroyed.

There is another problem with vitamin C. Almost all mammals are able to produce vitamin C in their own liver and therefore do not suffer from a lack of it. But humans, great apes, and guinea pigs are the only mammals unable to produce vitamin C in their bodies. Therefore, they need to get it with food. It is quite difficult for the body to accumulate the required amount of this vitamin: it can only accumulate in small doses, and these doses are less than the body needs.

We must constantly replenish our vitamin C reserves. Oranges, lemons, grapefruits, muskmelons and strawberries are the richest in this vitamin. Of course, many people take vitamin pills to make up for their lack of nutrition. Of course, it is best to get all the necessary vitamins as a result of a balanced diet, but if you feel that they are not enough, then you should consult your doctor before you start taking vitamins in any form.

Why do wrinkles form?

Already in the second decade of life, the skin of the face begins to dehydrate; there is less and less intercellular water left, which makes the skin elastic. It is not noticeable at first, but over time, dry skin forms lines and wrinkles, the number and depth of which can be reduced with proper face and body care.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

JVC DLA-Z4 1K projector 14.09.2016

JVC has introduced the DLA-Z4 1K laser projector, which is designed for home theater and is based on an advanced D-ILA matrix using Blu-Escent technology.

JVC has been marketing D-ILA sensors since 1997, and in the latest generation of them, it was able to achieve a significant (over 30%) reduction in the distance between pixels, which made it possible to realize native 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) with a diagonal of only 0,69 inches . Previously, JVC's consumer projectors used e-Shift optical shift scaling technology to achieve such clarity.

Another feature of the JVC DLA-Z1 is the Blu-Escent blue laser light source. Its maximum brightness reaches 3000 lm and is maintained throughout the entire service life of 20 hours. At the same time, the intensity of the laser radiation can vary dynamically, adjusting without delay to the brightness of the displayed frame for the most comfortable perception of the picture by the viewer.

Among other characteristics of the projector, we note 100% coverage of the DCIP3 color space and over 80% of the BT.2020 range, HDR support and a lens with 18 optical elements arranged in 16 groups with the ability to shift by 100% vertically and 43% horizontally.
