How old is sports diving?

Man probably learned to jump into the water soon after he learned to swim. He started jumping into the water as soon as he discovered that he could fall into the water from the ground. After the man learned to jump, he probably began to dive head first into the water. But only at the end of the XNUMXth century did acrobatic or artistic diving emerge. Gymnasts from countries such as Switzerland, Germany and Finland, while improving their acrobatic technique, discovered during training that jumping into water is softer than jumping onto the ground or mats. As a result of these practical exercises, a new sport appeared - diving.

By 1904 there was great international interest in the sport. There were enough different types of diving to have competitions in this type during the Olympic Games of that year. The competition was called "high diving in the program of the Olympic Games". Each jump allowed in the competition has a score based on the difficulty of the execution.

Since the first Olympic diving competition held in 1904, the list of types of diving has continued to change. Obsolete types of jumps are removed, and new ones are added. Jumping from a tower is jumping without a throwable board. They are usually performed from a high platform. Ski jumping uses a long board that bends easily. Ski jumping appeared after jumping from a tower. They are made from a lower height than high jumps.

Today, diving competition is a very popular sport in schools and colleges. Many divers who compete during their studies continue to compete for many years afterwards.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

DisplavPort Switches with HDMI/DVI Level Converters 16.03.2008

Texas Instruments has unveiled three compact devices for the DisplavPort digital video interface standard, freely distributed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).

These chips provide communication between personal computers and video displays. With low power consumption, they offer data rates up to 2,7Gbps, helping to match the speeds of the DisplavPort standard and the HDMI multimedia interface commonly used to connect desktops, laptops, and docking stations to DLP projectors, computer monitors, and digital TVs.

The SN75DP122, SN75DP128, and SN75DP129 have one dual-mode DisplayPort signal input and variable outputs to connect to a wide range of devices. Dual mode refers to the ability of a graphics processing unit (GPU) to transmit both DisplayPort and HDMI/DVI signals over a DisplayPort signal bus while supporting the necessary control signals.

The SN75DP129 converter has one dual-mode DisplayPort input and one differential TMDS output. This feature allows the user to connect a computer with DisplayPort output to monitors equipped with DVI inputs. The SN75DP128 is a high quality switcher with one DisplayPort input and one or two DisplayPort outputs. This device can be used when connecting to docking stations.

The SN75DP122 has one DisplayPort input combined with a DisplayPort output or a level-converted TMDS output for flexible connection to a monitor or TV. The SN75DP122 and SN75DP128 are available in a 56-pin QFN package, the SN75DP129 are available in a 36-pin QFN package.
