What is the difference between rabbits and hares?

The hare is one of the most meek animals in the world, and if you remember how gentle, shy, defenseless it is, you have to wonder how it manages to survive in a world where it has so many enemies. But you probably noticed how strong his hind legs are. Its speed and endurance depend on the strength of the hind legs. And, of course, you know how quickly hares and rabbits breed. This is another reason why they manage to survive.

Hares and rabbits are rodents, which means they have long and sharp front teeth. Their hind legs are longer than their front legs, and therefore they run uphill much faster than downhill! When they are pursued, they resort to various tricky things. For example, they confuse tracks or make big jumps to knock pursuers off the track. They can also warn each other of danger by drumming on the ground with their hind legs. Hares and rabbits are vegetarians, but they can make do with tree bark alone.

There are many differences between hares and rabbits. Hares are larger and have longer legs and ears. Hares do not dig holes and do not live in herds like rabbits. Hares are born with open eyes and hair, while rabbits are born blind and hairless. Hares and rabbits never interbreed. There are many species of hares in North America. One of the better known is the American hare, commonly erroneously referred to as the American rabbit. It is found throughout the West.

American hares reach a length of 0,5 meters and have huge ears. They are so fast that sometimes they can jump up to 6 meters. They cause much harm to the farmers of the West and are often herded and destroyed by the thousands. The March Hare, which we know from Alice in Wonderland, is widespread in Europe. In March, during his mating season, he forgets about the dangers, appears at any time of the day and performs acrobatic jumps.

Rabbits originate from the western shores of the Mediterranean. They are sociable creatures and live together in burrows. Rabbits can mate from the age of six months. They have offspring in a month. At one time, from three to eight of them can be born, and in a year a female rabbit can give birth to from four to eight rabbits. Therefore, if the rabbit has no natural enemies, then it can cause enormous damage. For example, only three pairs of rabbits were brought to Australia many years ago, and now they are a national disaster!

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Small Integral Tire Pressure Monitoring System 22.10.2014

Freescale Semiconductor has released the FXTH87 tire pressure monitoring system, which the manufacturer says is the smallest in the world (50% smaller than the best of competing products). The dimensions of the FXTH87 system in a QFN-type case are 7 x 7 x 2,2 mm, weight - 0,3 g.

The manufacturer notes that the FXTH87 also has the lowest power consumption in its category, which has a positive effect on battery life. The system integrates an accelerometer (single-axis or two-axis, depending on modification), a temperature sensor, a microcontroller, an RF transmitter operating at a frequency of 315 or 434 MHz and a low-frequency receiver operating at a frequency of 125 kHz. Six general purpose digital I/O lines are available.

The presence of a microcontroller, firmware and 8 KB of user-accessible flash memory increases the flexibility of the system and reduces the development time for solutions based on it.

According to Freescale, the product's small size and high degree of integration will be appreciated by automotive electronics developers, who will be able to reduce the size and cost of sensor modules and reduce the number of components used in them.

Sales of the FXTH87 have already started at $3,45-$3,62 each in a 10000-piece lot.
