How fast is the speed of light in a vacuum?

The propagation speed of electromagnetic waves (including light waves) in free space (vacuum) is one of the fundamental physical constants. Its huge role in modern physics is determined by the fact that the speed of light is the limiting speed of propagation of any physical influences and does not change when moving from one frame of reference to another. No signals can be transmitted faster than the speed of light.

The magnitude of the speed of light relates the mass and total energy of a material body; through it the transformations of coordinates, velocities and time are expressed when the reference system changes; it enters into many other ratios.

According to modern data, the speed of light in a vacuum is 299 meters per second.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

4K Video Transfer Adapter USB 3.0 21.07.2014

Modern video cards and 4K monitors are equipped with several HDMI and DVI interfaces by default, but sometimes working moments require the simultaneous connection of three or four displays. The number of corresponding ports on the computer limits such manipulations. In this case, the available connectors, even if the UHD display model has the ability to connect via DisplayPort, may simply not be enough.

In this case, a solution from Club 3D comes to the aid of the user. The demonstrated adapter for connecting a monitor to a computer and then broadcasting 4K video bypasses the usual connectors on a graphics accelerator. On the one hand, the manufacturer equipped the "adapter box" with a DisplayPort connector, and on the other hand, the connection to a PC or laptop will be implemented via USB version 3.0.

The device model was named Club 3D USB 3.0 to 4K Graphics Adapter CSV-2302. The adapter supports the HDCP 2.0 protocol, as well as playback of protected content both in UHD format and with a picture in a lower resolution according to QHD (2560 x 1440), Full HD (1920 x 1080) and HD (1366 x 768) standards.

As for 4K broadcasting, the CSV-2302 will broadcast it at a maximum frequency of 30 Hz.

Previously, Club 3D engineers had already been developing a similar adapter, but at that time the interface available for use was a USB 2.0 port. This standard simply did not allow video transmission with a resolution of 3840? 2160 pixels.
