It is indispensable when you need to quickly remove any small object from your hands. The thing is attached to the gripping mechanism, and when the line is pulled, it moves with lightning speed to where the body of the mechanics is placed, which immediately "gives" the disappeared object.

On fig. 22 shows the entire mechanism and its components. The mechanics in fig. And it is turned to us with its lower side; with the help of two brackets C, it is put on a belt, which is fastened at the waist. Bracket P with a hole for passing fishing line wound on a drum is screwed with two screws. At one end, the fishing line is firmly attached to the rotating body (its profile is shown in Fig. D). At the other end of the fishing line, a gripping mechanism I is attached, on which lever Y moves in a bracket of wire T, pressed down by a spring F.

Focus The mechanic used to make items disappear (zugmechanics)
Fig. 22

On cover A there is a lever-stopper 3 rising upwards, bent at the end with a corner. When you press it with your finger, the lever enters down into one of the grooves G of the rotating part C and stops the movement of the spring attached to part B with the help of hook O. Part B is motionless. This is the reverse side of A, on which brackets C are located. In the center of part B is the round axis Z; one of its ends is tightly riveted to part L, and the other, upper (K), is sawn in the form of a square and enters the hole M of part G. Thus, both parts are connected motionlessly together, forming a whole case consisting of two halves B and G.

Part B rotates inside the case. A strong spring E from the alarm clock is attached to the axis, which has a special hook; at its other end, a hole was made for a hook O of a movable part B, similar to a coil (Fig. 22, D). A fishing line X is wound on it, tied to a gripping mechanism Y. On the upper sides of the "coil" 6 cutouts G are made, into which a stopper 3 can enter and delay its rotation. If you now pull the line a little from the "coil", then the stopper 3 will jump off under the action of the unwinding spring. G - a cover with a side having a cutout for passing the fishing line out.

A quadrangular hole M is made in the center of the lid. The end of the axis I enters into it, connecting both parts, B and G, to each other. In the center of the axle there is a hole with an internal thread into which a bolt with a round head is screwed. It fixes the parts immobile while at the same time allowing the "coil" B to rotate freely. Such a construction is difficult to manufacture, so we will describe a simpler device after that.

In a session, mechanics are used in this way. A device for the disappearance of objects is worn on a belt around the waist from the left side. Unwind the fishing line from the "coil" so that it is enough to reach the palm of the right hand. The stopper is lowered down. The end I is passed under the jacket along the back and taken out through the right sleeve to the right palm, where it is put into a special pocket in the lining of the sleeve. At the right moment, the gripping mechanism I is imperceptibly, under the cover of the sleeve, is taken out and an object is attached to it, which should "disappear". Now, if you wave your hands, pulling on the fishing line, it will immediately release the stopper 3, and the mechanics will instantly pull the thing to the place where it is put on the belt. The thing will be "freed" because the spring Y will be raised.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Free taxi powered by ads 03.02.2014

It seems that self-driving cars have nothing to do with Google's core business of selling ads, but the search giant recently filed an interesting patent describing an ad-driven taxi service.

The idea is that advertisers can offer their potential customers a free ride to the store. This will solve one of the biggest problems retailers face: getting consumers to shop. The system will offer a free or discounted ride based on an algorithm that calculates the travel costs and the potential profit from the purchase.

The concept involves free tickets for taxis, public transport or even self-driving cars. Ads will be shown to a person through a smartphone (based on location data) or through a stationary kiosk in a public place. Advertising, of course, will be extremely targeted. In the case of a smartphone, Google will automatically identify the user, while in the case of a kiosk, you will have to enter your Google+ credentials. The system will track the frequency of a person's use of discounted transport for real purchases, and if the user does not buy goods too often after such a service, there may not be a discount next time.

The patent also provides for the ability to share information about your interests and companions. For example, two adults might want to have lunch somewhere, and an adult with a child might want to head to a family vacation spot. Advertisers will provide different offers based on user profile data and purchase history.

It is not clear whether Google plans to implement such systems in the near future, or whether we are talking more about the era of autopiloted vehicles. It is important to note that the patent is filed by a division of Google that is working on the development of autopilot for cars.
