The plant with the largest flowers is the Arnold's Rafflesia (Rafflesia arnoldii) found on the island of Sumatra. The flower of this plant in bud looks like a head of cabbage, and when opened it reaches 1 meter in diameter and can weigh up to 7 kilograms.

Rafflesia Arnold flowers emit a strong putrid smell and are pollinated by flies. Most surprisingly, this foul-smelling tropical giant is a close relative of the humble fragrant violet.
