Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Miniature board Tah for controlling electronic devices via Bluetooth 18.10.2014

The Tah board is introduced, aimed at electronics enthusiasts and electronics developers. The board combines USB and Bluetooth LE interfaces, so you can add Bluetooth support to various DIY projects, as well as ready-made devices, after which they can be controlled from a smartphone, tablet, desktop or mobile PC.

For example, you can use your smartphone as a remote control for your TV, game console, or home appliance.

The developer himself calls the Tah board "a LEGO block for the Internet of things." The novelty is compatible with USB HID and Arduino, provides support for Bluetooth Low Energy and Beacon. The board comes with libraries that can be used to create applications for Android and iOS. The libraries are distributed under open source conditions.

The board has dimensions of 36x51 mm. It has an ATmega32U4 microcontroller. The developer can use 28 KB of flash memory (the actual amount of memory is 32 KB, but 4 KB is reserved for the bootloader), 12 lines of digital I / O (7 of them can be used for PWM), 6 lines of analog I / O, I2C interfaces and SPI. The developer claims that the wireless communication range reaches 30 m.
