Phraseologism: Samodelkin.

Meaning: A common noun for a home master, a lover of tinkering, doing everything with his own hands (jokingly ironic).

Origin: This character was invented by the Soviet artist and director of animated films Vakhtang Davidovich Bakhtadze (1914-1991). He portrayed him as a little man, assembled from the details of a wooden "constructor", and made him the main, constant hero of his cartoon films. The first film - "The Adventures of Samodelkin", released by the animation workshop at the film studio "Georgia-Film" in 1958, immediately became a success with the audience (award at the 1st All-Union Film Festival in Moscow). In 1960, the master released the second film "about Samodelkin" - "After the beep", which was awarded a diploma at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Soon this cartoon man - a lover of carpentry, locksmithing, a connoisseur of technology and crafts - became a literary hero. In the early 1960s The books of the writer Yuri Druzhkov were published, who, using the idea of V. D. Bakhtadze, made Samodelkin and his friend Pencil the main character of his books. After that, Samodelkin became a regular and popular character in periodicals for children - the magazine "Funny Pictures" and others.
