Let the world perish, but justice be done

Ferdinand I
Ferdinand I

Phraseologism: Let the world perish, but justice be done.

Meaning: It is used as an ironic commentary on a situation where the letter of the law obscures the essence of the matter, and the formal conduct of business obscures the fate of an individual.

Origin: From Latin: "Pereat mundus et fiat justicia". Erroneously attributed to the world of ancient Roman lawyers. In fact, it belongs to the late European Middle Ages: this is the motto of the emperor (1558-1564) of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation Ferdinand I. According to the custom of that time, this idea was expressed by him in Latin.

Random phraseology:

And everywhere fatal passions, and there is no protection from fate.

Meaning:

It is used as a playfully ironic commentary on an emotionally intense, stormy conflict over an unimportant occasion.

Origin:

The final lines of the poem "Gypsies" (1827) by A. S. Pushkin (1799-1837): "And under tattered tents // Tormenting dreams live. // And your nomadic canopy // In the deserts they did not escape from troubles, // And everywhere fatal passions, / And there is no protection from fate.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Where did blue eyes come from 08.12.2008

Danish geneticist Hans Eiberg, after 12 years of research on the prevalence of blue eyes in different peoples in all corners of the planet, came to the conclusion that the first blue-eyed person appeared 6-10 thousand years ago.

He lived somewhere northwest of the Black Sea. Before one child had a mutation in the gene responsible for the synthesis of the dark pigment melanin, all of humanity had gray, black or brown eyes.
